Infogrammes
Hi folks,

since many complain about the producer (French-based Infogrammes) that wants to make money, I would say that if you had bought stocks just one month before CIV III release to sell it just after its release (investing the CIV III price), you would have ended up with a free game.

I would say that is a generous company

PS : true for the French stock

Infogrames is French? Well NO FREAKING WONDER Civ3 is the mess it is...

Can someone in Germany please "go nextdoor" again and fix this situation? Germans always produced nice polished work...

I actually did not post that to initiate a racist attack on French software makers.

Remember they are the producers, not the direct programmers of the game. And they are one of the top worldwide game companies.

If you don't like French products, Vivendi Universal, Ubi Soft and Cryo are French too.

What I wanted to point out indirectly was that shouting against Infogrammes is largely useless. But that if you think a company makes money out of you, you can as well make money out of the company.
Though Civ III is a pretty good sale at the moment, most analysts that made the stock price go up so much (+ 200 % nearly) were actually focusing on the Xbox, and other Sega, Nintendo products.

Now, I would not dare to say that if we each had some shares we would be able to get exactly what we want from the company (we do not all want the same things anyway) but it is definitely pleasant a feeling when you win/earn enough money from a company to buy its products...

Regards,

My post wasn't meant to be rascistic. It's just that a) I experienced lot's of problems with Ubisoft products as well and b) I'm making software for a living and my experiences with french coworkers (skillwise) were not the best either.

Let's face it : French suck when it comes to make video games.

Let's face it too : French rock when it comes to video games market.

Mmh, you should have talked about Delphine Software, Adeline Software; Lankhor, Loriciel and Titus (though most of them made games in the Amiga era) rather than these ones
Because Cryo is probably the most lousy game producer (last good game ? Dune, back to... well, back a LONG while), and Vivendi gave us Diablo 2 (through Blizzard)

Infogrames has distributed the original SimCity and Alone in the Dark, I'd say they have a pretty good pedigree.

Infogrames took over Hasbro, which included Microprose, without that you might suggest the "Civilization" licence would never have fallen back into Sid's hands.
