What are we?
The "where" thread is going pretty well. Now it just occurred to me, what version is everyone playing? I wonder if this might show some interesting stats on that subject. Me? I only have the MGE version. From what I've been reading, I'll bet there're only about 1 in 10 who play that one. Let's find out. Although I'm not sure of all the different versions that are available. You all will have to fill in the blanks.

MGE - 1
2.42 -

More than one -

I recently got MP, so I now have two versions of Civ2 on my computer. I still use 2.42 for SP games.

I'm a 1.07c person at heart, since that is where almost all of my games have been played I do have the 2.42 CD now though. Guess that would make me a more than one? My CD drive is non-functional where i have 1.07c, and I like having the 2 to compare from time to time

MGE - 1
2.42 - 1 (2?)
1.07c - 0(1)?
-
More than 1 - 2(1?)

Edit - forgot to see if others had posted while i was typing away

I alternate between Civ II for scenario's and ToT for normal games.

1.07c - 0(1)
2.42 - 1(2)
2.78 - 1
MGE - 1
ToT - 1

More than 1 - 3
Are those numbers still correct?

looks like we need a couple rulings on what counts as what. do earlier patches of 2.42 count as a different version?, do we increment each version we have, as well as the number of people with multiple versions?

What's with the parenthesis?

1.07c - 1
2.42 - 4
2.78 - 2
MGE - 2
ToT - 2

or, if you wanna do it how it has been going:
1.07c - 0(1)
2.42 - 1(2)
2.78 - 1(1)
MGE - 2
ToT - 1
More than one - 4

I'm confused about all those paranthesis, but I play Civ 2.42 so I think it's:

1.07c - 0(1)
2.42 - 2(3)
2.78 - 1(1)
MGE - 2
ToT - 1
More than one - 4

I too am totally confused - I possess 2.42, several variants of this including Hi-Res and a personally modified Hi-Res I use for my own games, MP, CiC, FW, ToT and CtP but I guess that as over 90% of my games are either straight 2.42 or on my own mod of 2.42 I should cast my vote for 2.42???

Is this corresct

1.07c - 0(1)
2.42 - 3(3)
2.78 - 1(1)
MGE - 2
ToT - 1
More than one - 4

I have Civ II version 1.04 (or 1.06?), updated to 2.42.

I have Ultimate Civilization Collection, the Euro version of MPG. Updated to version 1.3.

I have Test of Time and the only patch for it.

There! I'll let someone else fill in my numbers...

I have the following versions of the .exe file

1.06 (2)
2.42 (6)
2.62 (1)
2.78 (2)
MGE (3)

and TOT (4) (for multiusers)

versions up until 2.62 are all the same in saved game format, so I never use the lower versions now. I usually play with 2.78 because I can't stand MGE. I bought TOT on a whim, installed it, took a peek at it, never touched it again. It's not designed for a P120.

I thought as with your "Where" list, it's a question of cutting and pasting the table, so i've added my single owner 2.42 to your list. However you'd have to add AL's contribution to it! A bit complicated if not everyone follows you MO.

Version-----Single-----Multi-----Total
-----------owners----owners

1.07c---------------------1--------1
2.42-----------3----------5--------8
2.78----------------------1--------1
MGE-----------2----------2--------4
ToT----------------------3--------3

Well, if you insist.

Version-----Single-----Multi-----Total
-----------owners----owners

1.06----------------------2--------2
1.07c---------------------1--------1
2.42-----------3----------6--------8
2.62----------------------1--------1
2.78----------------------2--------2
MGE------------2----------3--------4
ToT-----------------------4--------3

I don't have anything to add, but I noticed there were a couple things wrong in AL's post (he didn't add across!)

Version-----Single-----Multi-----Total
------------owners----owners

1.06----------------------2--------2
1.07c---------------------1--------1
2.42-----------3----------6--------9
2.62----------------------1--------1
2.78----------------------2--------2
MGE------------2----------3--------5
ToT-----------------------4--------4

I think everything adds up now

This should be MUCH easier to add people's versions on to now!

Well, Ollie, this is a fine mess you've gotten us into. Why am I reminded of the data processing cartoon showing the tire swing hanging from a tree as 1) the analyst designed it, 2) the programmer coded it, 3) operations installed it, and 4) the user wanted it. There were other variations but these give you the idea. Anyone familiar with this cartoon?

Anyway here's my stab at the corrected totals-to-date sans ()s with a new format (as the poster envisioned it):

Version-----Single-----Multi-----Total
-----------owners----owners

1.07c---------------------1--------1
2.42-----------2----------5--------7
2.78----------------------1--------1
MGE-----------2----------2--------4
ToT----------------------3--------3

Clear as mud, right?

Touche, Carolus. LMAO at your comment. I didn't realize that EACH editing would be noted. And it WAS a booger to get the alignment as good as I did. But I think we've all got the hang of it now.

For the numerically impaired , are 1.06 and 1.07c original Civ2, 2.42 CiC, and 2.62 and 2.78 FW? And how do you find out which version of Civ2 or FW you have?

1.06, 1.07, and 2.42 are the original, 2.62 is CiC, 2.78 is FW.

I have 2.42, MGE, and ToT, so...

Version-----Single-----Multi-----Total
------------owners----owners
1.06----------------------2--------2
1.07c---------------------1--------1
2.42-----------4----------7-------11
2.62----------------------1--------1
2.78----------------------2--------2
MGE------------2---------4--------6
ToT------------1---------5--------6

assuming I understand this right

I use 2.42 for single player, MGE for multiplayer. Adding Empress's games to mine:

Version-----Single-----Multi-----Total

1.06----------------------2--------2
1.07c---------------------1--------1
2.42-----------4---------10-------14
2.62----------------------1--------1

Hmm, let me see. I have installed on my computer:

civ2 v1.02
v2.42
v2.62
v2.7.81
MGE patch 3 (v5.4.0f)
ToT v1.0.0 (no patch)

I installed all of them at the same time cause I wanted to compare saved game files once, and I didn't remove the useless ones, but I use FW (2.7.81) mostly (almost only).

I got 1.02, not listed in the list, but I'll make that 1.06 for the sake of simplicity.

With a little bit of thinking and calculating, this should be it:

Version-----Single-----Multi-----Total
------------owners----owners
1.06----------------------3--------4
1.07c---------------------1--------1
2.42-----------4---------11-------15
2.62----------------------2--------2
2.78-----------1----------3--------4
MGE-----------2----------8--------10
ToT-----------1----------7--------8
