The Palace
After about the third or forth time you build a palace, it seems a rather useless exercise. It would be very nice if upgrading your palace gave some tangable value. Some suggestions:
A chance for a leader.
additional culture output
stronger administration (less corruption)
A shield output
A gold output
Some special ability
etc.
Generally, I quickly stop doing things that require any effort and have no effect in the game.

I think there was quite a bit of discussion by the development team about getting rid of the palace, but there was a popular uproar when it was mentioned that is might be left out. Personally, after seeing all the different pieces once or twice, and building one or two mutt palaces, I skip it too......

I don't want the Palace to go away either, but I do want it to DO something when I upgrade it.
There should also be some really evil effect when you or the AI loses a Palace

I like the idea , but it's low on my wishlist -- maybe for Civ 4  .
