I didn't know that we have an Apolyton fortune-teller.

Joke, no offense.

I think that they won't make the next patch before the beta test group is ready and has tested it.

I would be more tolerant if they were doing someting more then game polishing (like stack-movement or Hotseat&PBEM MP)

Might be, but they still need to test the patches, and can't rush them to contain more bugs then the original game. If they get it tested before the Beta team is ready they might release it, but don't count on anything.

Relax, they have had holidays. Also how long did they work with the first patch? (My guess is that they started when the game went gold)

It really is a no win situation for them. If they released a patch now to satisfy those of us who want it NOW, the rest would say "Those guys rushed the game now they are rushing the patches"
If they take their time and do as thorough as possible job on making the patch, those of us who want it NOW would say "Man, it is taking them forever to get out the patches, what is wrong with them guys anyway"

I believe Player 1 like us would just like an offical statement about a future patch when it might be out. Even if it's 2 months away from now at least we know they are doing something.

I know I know it's been said before but at least on other game forums they keep thier customers (or fans ) in the know about what is going on. I don't see that here.

They cannot discuss whether they are working on a patch. Even if they are working on one, and were able to reveal so, they would not be able to mention what is contained in said patch (assuming such a patch is being worked on, which cannot and should not be construed by any comments made thus far by anyone inside or outside of Firaxis). If a patch is being worked on (which it may or may not be), it will almost certainly make the game rise, phoenix-like, from the ashes of its' thus far mediocre beginning. How exactly this may or may not happen is also not open to public discussion.

Hope this helps.

It is possible there will not be new patches before expansion pack. That would be a stimuli to buy it.

At least if Firaxis could say something like:

-It will be released in Februarry, or
-It will be released in March, etc...

OR,

We plan to add (or postpone for third patch):
-more editor options
-Hotset & PBEM MP
-only to make game more stable
-only to balance units more
-stack movement, etc...

So we can know what to expect in next patch.
Will it be big update, small update.
What WILL NOT be done in second patch, etc...

In fact it would be best if Firaxis gives us a hint about:

What WILL NOT be done in second patch.

That way we would know what to expect, or not expect.
And they could still (if they like) not tell us about things in second patch.

Precisely, but you would only be fooling yourself to expect quality service or even half baked mindless PR. They've been told by all of us (or most of the fans anyway) that they don't have to give us dates, or promises, but to merely let us know what they are working on so as to keep us in the loop. I don't know about everyone else, but my emails went un-answered.. probably because they know who Iam and they don't like my criticism. And they make the assupmtion that I'll merely go away if they don't answer me, WRONG.

I strongly believe (and would even bet my car on it) there won't be another patch. The next step will be the expansion pack or something similar, and knowing them and their egotisticle selfish bahaviour.. it will definately cost money.

Charles.

Even if they go to XP then they'll probably:
-make patch which "only" fixes things
-make XP which gives "something" extra (with patch included)

At least, that's the way how some other companies work.

Examples:
-Starcraft & Brood war
-Heroes of Might and Magic & various XP
-Civ2 & various XP

To all the whiners here: Can you walk and chew gum at the same time?! No, I didn't think so! Now sit down and be patient! Posting information on the Internet isn't as easy as you think ... there are firewalls, and proxies and IP spoofing (oh my!) to think about. It's not like Firaxis has all the time in the world to figure out how to connect to the Internet AND make a game!!!

Geesh! Cry babies!!!

This swine therefore clearly cannot choose the pearl in front of me...

Why would they be working on a patch when there is nothing important broken to fix and their publishers would be much more interested in expanded features like multiplayer and scenarios that they can sell?
