Please help with resources!
Strategic resources is a big problem for me, cause i don't get any. If I play a huge map. I might, if I'm lucky, find iron on two or three spots. On the whole map!! Is this right? I mean if your opponent gets his hands on those two or three spots (and then refuses to trade with ya, wich isn't uncommon) you have practically lost the game already. It's just the same with all the other strategic resources, once I played a huge random map where I found no rubber at all on the whole map, yeah it's true.
I kept on looking for hours and hours, but no rubber. Is this a bug? Are there any option so i can set the amount of SR (strategic resources). or are I doing something else wrong??The game gets plain boring to play when you find no resources, they are that important to gameplay.

Please help me! I'm so tired of making my own maps, and placing out the amount of SR I think might be proper

I never had the problems you describe (there always is enough of everthing for me) but if you want more resources you can simply change the "appearance ratio" with the editor which represents the amount of resources planted on the map.

Uncheck "use standard rules" in the extras menu.
"Edit" rules in the rules menu.
Choose the resources tab.
Change the appearance ratio for every resource.
(Look in the help file to get a hint about what the numbers mean).

Save the changes as civ3mod.bic (make a backup of the original) and play a new game or save them as whatever.bic and load it as a scenario.

Disclaimer: My editor is in German so possibly the menu items are named slightly differently but you shouldn't have problems to find it.

Certain resources only become available after you make specific advances. Are you sure rubber is available to you when you look for it? I play on a standard map, and have always had every resource in the game available to me at some point.

Thanks for your help Todd, it's much appreciated

Yes Dobian, I'm sure i had the necessary advances to find rubber. But still there where none.

I might have found out what was the problem though. I think that the more puter players you have, the more of each resource you get. And since I enjoy building large civs i have played with just 2 or 3 puter run civs. I tried one with 6 puter civs yesterday, and found alot mor SR.
