cheating ruskies
I think they new they would be caught blood doping. They thought they would raise the huge ruckus to soften the blow.

Russians have less money than western athlets to use dopes who wouldn't be detected by CIO officer (who are not so efficient).

USA is the major cheater of all times.
It was the worse Olympic games I’ve ever seen. It’s a shame for USA not for us. Cowards.

Calm down Serb, every country dopes . We (Germans) sell our doping athletes to others . I hope the warranty for Muehlegg was already expired.

Yeah it sucks to be russian.
Not as much money going to the athletes which helped contribute to lackluster performance.
Getting beat by new countries that used to be Russian Hurts.
So they cheat and get caught.
End up giving up some of the few medals they won.
Government states it's because they aren't feared anymore. (I loved that one)
Losing their hold on all the rigging they used to get away with in skating. (check out how the russian judge scored the women's gold winner for any proof that it was fantasy land)
It's all a conspiracy with the US to blame. (how paranoid can you get)
When the russians could rig something, they were great. When they can't, It's someone elses fault.

Whine Cry Whine.

RAH

At least it was entertaining. Of course, if they ignore their sports program any further, that's all they'll be good for....Comic relief.

That would be unfair to those who want to compete without using drugs.

Was anyone as surprised as me to see Muehlegg, Lazutina and Danilova get to keep most of the medals they got? Is taking away two gold medals in total and not allowing them to participate in the closing ceremonies enough of a disincentive?

I think they should be banned for an extended period of time, couldn´t IOC draft Ming for this purpose or something? Next Winter Olympics could be hold in Mingapulco...

OK, there´s even more doping in the SO

BTW I´ve always (well, it´s a relative term isn´t it...) wondered where Mingapulco is located, obviously it´s somewhere warm, right?

Here is an article
http://www.msnbc.com/news/709438.asp?cp1=1
detailing the history of what little of the corruption in ice dancing judging that has been made public, undoubtedly only the tip of the iceberg. Including more information on the currently scandal than I have seen published elsewhere; With the French judge having put into sworn staements that she was presseured to vote trade with the russians, before she later recanted. You would think the East block judges would be more carefull of being recorded, but Ukrainians are twice caught on tape and a Russian once.

Serb: You didn't answer rah's argument--i.e., that the Russian public just couldn't take the fact that you were having a bad games, even while cheating. Further, that instead of either resolving to cheat better in the next games, or actually investing in your athletes so that they do better (as the US did after '88), we get a stream of complaints. As though complaining will make your athletes better! What a downer!

Well it did work for the Canadian hockey team, but Gretzky only used that ploy once.

They were not caught at doping upon winning their first medals. Not caught -> innocent. Just presumption of innocence.

May I comment on this. What you mention may be just one of the aspects that affected how Russia perceived the Olimpic Games. It would be very incorrect to reduce it all to this single aspect. The problem is that Russia received an outrageous treatment at this olympiad. The Canadian case alone, even disregarding other scandals, is more than enough to justify the above statement.

the "canadian case" as you call it was a clear cheat, we had a confession from the french judge, what more do you want? It wasn't the skaters fault, blame it on the judges.
