Temp City?
OK, so I tried the forum's advice, to build a city 2 squares from my targeted enemy city, gather forces there and launch attack. Worked like a charm. Raised a couple questions for me.

As a result of this strategem, I now have 3 tightly packed cities (my orig. city, my "attack city" and my newly conquered city, all 2 spaces apart..

Question: Should I worry about the massive overlap and subsequent limits on available resources?

If so, how do you disband a city?

Or is it better to keep all cities active and accept the limitations to growth?

Thx 4 any help...

You could do a lil' trick:

You can switch the production of one of the town city to normal (making sure it has some growth in food) and let the otherone go totally on science (or Tax) specialists. Then the next turn you turn the whole thing around. (making sure it has some growth in food)

The Downside of this is that this way neither of the city will grow.
The Upside is that you use the same ground to keep two city alive (and helpfull by giving tax/science). This is best done by large city.

With small cities just build settlers with it and rush them, the city will die out and you got settlers to improve the other city.

Another option is cutting away the bad limb (the city that is bothering both the other city) and keeping the last leg alive.

Thanks to Xin Zu (he is the one that came up with the use of specialists this way).

You need size 5 cities though.

if you decide to disband a city by building settlers, make sure there's no excess food production when the city is down to size 1. otherwise production will be delayed until it grows to size 2...

Just to put the ICS view forward - a city exploits n+1 squares when at size n - thus more small cities are actually more efficient than fewer large cities - just many folks here don't like their cities all over each other --- however, ever looked closely at DaveV's avatar???
