Governments
This time i am interested in ur ideas on improvin' governments & please don't insult cuz this topic was covered before.

1 thing, iknow this idea was posted before, there should more domestic affairs cuz if u think about it, all the civ had crap 4 domestic affairs, it was so easy to put down revolt, sure it was annoying. My idea there should a section in domestic affairs were u could pass laws that would effect ur civ.

An example of a law would be the Emancipation Act, ending slavery. of course, the time when the law was past would effect the outcome. For instance, if the Act was passed during the industrial revolution, it would boost production but down play money cuz there more people to pay.

With domestic affairs, there should be i guess political groups that would demand certain laws be passed & for u change other things

More government choices like direct democracy(Athenian Democracry), autocratic monarchy, Constitutional monarchy, dual monarchy & socailist democracy(this one would love to see)

i would go to more detail but i don't the time so i will post more of my ideas later. But i can tell my ideas r 2 late to be suggested 4 civ 3 but i could hope

also i am ready for feedbacks & insults

Don't worry, Maniac, I for one love Social Enginnering.

I think with the apropriate changes, SE would work great in civ3!

But back to the original topic,

I think that more governments is a good idea ONLY IF all the governments have DISTINCTIVE GAMEPLAY characteristics.

There is no use having a dozen governements if the player/AI never uses half of them!!

Future governments I'd like to see-

Marxism (aka True Communism- excellent production, happy populace, low money)

Meritocracy (a system not based on money but on personal skills- high happiness, excellent science, low money)

Cybernetic (run by computers- high production, low happiness, high science)

it's time 4 me to add the details that i didn't originally posted.

As 4 political groups, as no 1 took notice, they should what revolts & revolutions r all about & in turn 2 important 2 be overlooked. different political groups should come from, if these ideas r included, social classes & organized religion.

4 example, if the industized labor class r discontent, they will form a socialist party & demand certain labor laws be enacted. Other thing political group should be able to do, which i is 2 complex but i will put it up, is form sercet armies ready to fight 4 what they want if they r shut out by the ruler 2 long. good social class that would do this r the nobles. other choice of weapon is terrorism, this should really 'annoying' & should make the government cave into the demands of a political group.

now back to another part of laws i should effect the game. u know how changing governments results in some form of anarchy, well i think blow that idea a little off. with laws u could slowly enact a new government & therefore political groups could make a drive 2 change the government. Anarchy should result if u change the government 2 fast, sort of like Russia now, & if most of ur cities revolt then ur government collapses & there is complete anarchy

1 other idea that makes the game more realistic is political stability. certain governments would more or less political stability like autocratic monarchy over republics. of course, this wouldn't be true all time. if political groups cuz constant revolts & rebellions this lowers political stability, with this lower the high the chance of the complete collapse of ur civ & therefore loose the game or start a new government from anarchy, depending how bad things r.

and all over the America sunny weather, well expect 4 Seattle

Something I found rather unrealistic is the ease that players had when setting building orders in cities.

Technically speaking, in a democracy or republic, the ruling class would have to contend with public approval of their construction orders - sometimes to the point of quietening down protests held against their build orders.

In a Communism or a Despotism, or something equally absolutist, production could be much closer supervised by the ruler. Communism especially, since the central precepts of that government type concern economic and industrial production, NOT necessarily political leanings or martial law.

grapevine, good idea on creating new governments but 4 me, i don't want it

reason is that there was an idea in diplomacy where civs w/ the same government would be kinder 2 each, like America & England, & civs w/ really different governments wouldn't be so friendly 2 each other, like Soviet Union & USA or USA & Iran

ur idea wouldn't really make that system work maybe there is a way but there was a way it would be 2 complex

if any of u don't think so,well say so

How about along with premade governments we the players could make governments of our own. Like for example for a government you get X number of points to place in either production, happiness, science etc... then you could name it whatever you want. Of course bonuses from wonders or improvements would help your government
