yuk!
Yuk!

That sight should be shut down or at least be ordered to have some
form of age verification on it...

Anyway, that facist form of government is too powerful, facist regimes
have been shown to be weak over the long term.

Too strong.

Historically, the downside of fascism is economic. No, they do not have the same commercial strength as democracies. Generally, killing or expelling your best scientists, enslaving millions, lying to the people, rewarding cronies based on loyalty or race rather than efficiency or productivity, using loot to cover deficits, etc. is not the best economic model for long-term growth.

The mod needs a little rebalancing.

korn,

What do have selected for the modifiers towards other governments under the governments tab (i.e resistance vs and Propaganda vs) for your fascism government?

I like the idea of your governments there, including the fact that you use paid labour for communism... does that make it better?

What i've done is essentially include a socialism government which is like a paid labour version of communism. Bit more lenient than Communism, doesn't have the trade bonus of Democracy and also has a more even unit support across the city sizes to help increase the income a little.

i am still balancing the resistances and propaganda modifiers, but as of now fascism encounters high resistance modifiers especially against democracy and communism, i think i set the resistance modifers to +35 for those two, and then fairly high for the other types, the only two that it encounters negative resistance with is anarchy and despotism

it is something like this

resistance against fascism
democracy: very high
communism: very high
republic: high
monarchy: medium
despotism: none (acceptance)
anarchy: none (acceptance)

resistance from fascism
communism: very high
anarchy: high
republic: medium
despotism: medium
fascism: medium
monarchy: medium
democracy:medium

also i roughly based my version of fascism on the third reich, and my version of communism on the Soviet Union after Stalin

as of now it seems that the AI likes fascim a little too much, but i am trying to balance them better so that there is a decent spread of governments amongst the AI

Well, if you want a totalitarian/fascist government I'd say it must
a) make less trade than democracy/republic
b) render your spies/diplos useless
c) piss other nations off, i.e. no culture flips for you any more but instead some flips working against you - especially in cities where you happen to have foreign locals
d) induce other people to ally against you. I'm not sure how you do that, though... the AI seems to care less about your style of gov't. That's one thing I miss from SMAC, where the other faction leaders would pay much more attention to your style of government and straight out start loving you when you align your political and economical systems to theirs.

If there was a Civ4, all those SMAC diplomacy thingys would HAVE TO be integrated!
