The wonder code now basically works. I still have to organise the files, and such, and correct some details with pillaging, but the base of it is there.

Hey guys,
I don't have much time but just a brief heads-up to let you know I *might* have found a nice picture of the Petronas Towers (or KLCC, as they are called by the locals) for you. Birds-eye view picutures are pretty much impossible to find (but I should have some more time to look tomorrow so not all hope is lost yet) but I've found a post-card with a nice frontal view of the buildings. Unfortunately I can't scan this picture and put it online until I get home from my trip though (another week and a half or so), so you'll need to practice some patience. In the mean-time, here's another nice pic from one of our digital camera's. The only disadvantage of this is that it has a slight angle (more self-made pics might follow later, we've made well over a thousand already and are far from done so wading through time could take weeks):

Also, the KLCC website has a few nice pictures which you may want to check out: http://www.klcc.com.my/main.htm

That's the bunny!! Thanks Locutus, and Dave; that bottom one is it. It does need shrinking a little more, but that's not a problem. That angle is perfect.

IW? Do you have all the wonders in the til file?

Big Mc, Dont worry. Since we must finish the Wonders code and the city expansion first before going to the buildings. But i would like to see them, please.

Dave,
Woohaa, that looks great You even included the Suria KLCC Shopping Centre and some other random support buildings (Suria definitely should be there; not sure about those other buildings but they sure look nice)

There's only one minor point for possible improvement: the most striking feature of the KLCC Towers is without a doubt the skybridge with it's support legs. The latter ones are still missing in the pic, due to the poor quality of the photo they're hardly visible on the original but from almost every other angle they clearly stand out. So perhaps it might be an idea they to add them manually (just two 1-pixel wide diagonal lines would probably do the trick, on such a small scale the exact angle and location don't even matter much).

Other than that, the picture is perfect

Very nice

I tried shrinking it, I hate it that the 0-point for tile imps is the top left. It means when placing them in tile edit, they always extend downwards, below the tile, not above it. Its mad.
So it'll have to be 96*72 like the rest.
This one looks far far far better than the others, but still not very well shrunk. You might want to have a go Dave, you're the artist

I got this:

Commerce I expect. They aren't currently being used in any mod AFAIK, Locutus requested them for his mod.

Looks great! I noticed you added even more buildings (the Maxis Tower on the left and Mandarin Oriental on the right) - now it's no longer just the Petronas Towers but half the centre of KL, only the park is still missing... but it still looks very good...

As for effect in the game, Petronas is the national oil company of Malaysia and heavily invests in many sectors of the Malay society. Most notably, they're behind many massive building projects (KL Airport, Sepang F1 circuit, KLCC, many other buildings in the MSC (Multimedia Super Corridor - Malay version of Silicon Valley) and elsewhere). The Towers are their headquarters so either an advantage in commerce or production (or both) would be appropriate. (The Towers also give the Malay people great pride and they have typical Islamic architectual characteristics and the park right next to it has a stunningly beautiful mosque; so even a small happiness bonus wouldn't be entirely out of place.) But it all depends on what the modmaker wants of course...

WTF happened? For the first time in this thread's existance, it fell of the first page

But I noticed it's still getting massive numbers of views, mostly by lurking guests (or people who forgot to log in), so people are still very much interested...

So, IW, any update on this? Did you fixed that bug you mentioned to me yet?

I started SLICing. That's always a bad move in my experience.
I think I may have possibly found a possible cause of what's causing the crashes. I haven't had time to check it out yet, but I will as soon as I can.

If its not that, I might have to rebuild the code from scratch, and check every bit for bugs. Which will take considerably more time.

Actually, the purpose of this thread, the wonders bit, is actually done more or less. I'll try and get that polished for next week. The tile file will then include all the city expansions as well, but they won't be implemented yet.

Yes, releasing what you have might be a good thing. Also, maybe you could post the SLIC files here on the forum, so the other SLICers can look at it as well. Although I can't run the game, I'll see what I can do in terms of debugging as well...

No luck I'm afraid. Maybe someone else can stop something I missed.

The crash comes when a city grows to size 6, but not when building a settler etc. so I think the bug is with the AddSuburb function, but that's easy to test.

I included the game files as well, so it should show up as a mod named "Wombat mods - Wonders"
You'll need to move the strings file to your language/gamedata directory and uncomment some stuff from IW_city_expansion.slc, but I'm in a rush ATM... Oh, and you need Cradle installed...

IMPORTANT: these files up for testing purposes only. No graphics included, and this is in no way a finished mod, its really only for others to test for errors. In fact, I'm thinking its only really a plea for help from Martin and Peter, but anyway. Here it is:
