I think it would be a lot better if news came to you from the public in interesting forms.

Lets say you are English, and you get a newspaper with the headlines "LAND HO!"

And beneath it says "Spanish discover new land to the west! signs of Gold, wood, etc, etc. non-advanced natives discovered, blah blah".

And I would suddenly think I should build massive ships and many settlers to take over to the new land asap!

Just an example of how I think news should be more interesting.

I like the idea!

This would be a good way of tying Civ III back into it's Civ I original roots.

I can imagine the banner headlines springing up whenever an opposing civ begins construction on a wonder...

Rumours proved true of Russian Colossus statue shocker!!!
Stunned observers yesterday confirmed that the alleged statue, still only built to a waist-high level, visibly dwarfed nearby buildings...continued on page nine.

Ahem...Well, you get the idea.
