Help with .ini file
Anyone care to translate? This is from the Civ3.ini file.

Preferences=00000011110101001000111111110110
Rules=0000000000000 0000000000000111111
Customize=0
Time Controls=1
Governor=00000000000000000000000000000000
Gov Prod Never=00000000000000000000000000011000
Gov Prod Often=00000000000000000000000000000000
SFX Volume=127

I remember there was a RULES.TXT file for CIV2 that allowed you to set your own rules, and was looking for something simular in CIV3. Guess I found it, but not what I was looking for.

Well at a guess you have your sound set to maximum. Looks suspiciously like a one byte integer.

I am pretty sure that none of those have a thing to do with the game rules. Thats the file where you put in things like

refresh=85

Mostly that looks like your preference settings. I think you have two of the city governor setting at never and none are set to often.

No you haven't found what you were looking for. Try the CivIII editor which edits the .bic file. Then hope for the next New Improved Editor. That one may have more.

This lack of flexible editing has been the most legitmate complaint on Apolyton. Most of the rest have been more a matter of taste. The box promised or at least implied a better editor than was delivered.

I believe Ethelred is right.

Preferences are your settings in the pref menue and rules are probably the settings you choose when creating a new game (Civ, landmass, barbarians......).

Or the other way round.
