Perhaps the ages should arise like CtP2's feats of wonder. I.e. an "Age of Reason" would occur when the first civ manages to build 10 universities, not just from discovering the philosophy advance.

Mediaeval (Just means middle, so it can apply to all civs.)

Renaissance

Colonial

Industrial

Nuclear (first use of nuclear weapons)

Information (the age of computers and the internet)

Neo-Modern (early futuristic, but still easily recognizable)

OK, but strike "Colonial" as an age. That again is dependent more on what people were doing rather than techonology. The colonial period in the West was during the Renaissance and the early Industrial ages.
