This is a tough call as every game is different. The happiness wonders are always important therefore i vote for Sistine Chapel.

The monetary wonders can save a veritable fortune over the course of a game however. The bigger the map/military, the more important Adam Smiths and Leonardo's become.

Dude. Longevity. ...Or is that a small wonder? I've only built it once or twice, I can't remember off the top of my head.

Seriously, I'd say it's a tossup between Sistine, Pyramids, Sun Tzu, Adam Smith, or Hoover, depending on the map parameters and which victory you're playing for.

What? Why Adam Smith, you say?? Have you ever not built it, but had lots of banks and markets, then captured Smith's later? It can save you HUNDREDS of gold per turn in maitenance.

Hover Dam is best.
Maybe it's even broken considering how good wonder is.

Next,
Sistine Chapel, must have for Emperor+ games.

Since I never play games with large continents, Hoover Dam is often quite Useless for me.
I mostly go for the Sistene Chappel as it gives a lot of culture
in addition to a unique happiness bonus.

I always thought that a wonder like the Hanging Gardens is a valuable wonder simply by virtue that is an ancient wonder that would generate lots of culture points in the long run.

I voted for Sistine Chapel. Hoover Dam would be a close second. I have to agree with some of the other posts above. The difficulty level diminishes/increases the importance of the Sistine.

What?! You placed the Oracle in a category by itself and Bach's Cathedral in the "Other" category???

Bach's is cool since it acts as a supplement to cathedrals instead of replacing them.

It depends on map size. The larger the map and the larger the continents the more important some of the wonders are.

I voted for the Sistine Chappel. Its very usefull at ALL map sizes. If I played all my games on huge maps though I might say something different. Hoover Dam is really usefull.

Lately though I have found that The Theory of Evolution is nearly as important because that is what gives me the Hoover Dam.

I voted pyramids, just because it's usually the first wonder I build and I like not having to build graneries on that continent.

Sorry,
I forgot about The Great Library. An instant remedy for coming back in the tech race. I change my vote to this one because of temporary amnesia.

I voted Sun Tzu because I usually play pangea, where there is one massive continent. Thus, when I'm rolling through cities, I don't have to stop them more than a turn or two to heal my military completely, thus allowing me to move more quickly cross country. Also, if I am in the midst of a war and I get a new tech, I can upgrade at the front, even if the cities captured didn't have barracks originally,

Sistine Chapel for me, I got keep the little civers happy. Frankly, if I don't they like to break stuff. -=shrug=-

But my underlying philosphy is to build them all...

Sistine Chapel

For continent non-restriction and because happiness is the very most usefulness of all.

My 2nd best is Adam's Smith Trading Co because money matters.

For me, GL is the most important, considering the tech-trading-hungry AI.

Hoover Dam comes in second, and Adam Smith's comes in third.

I don't think Universal Sufferage does a darn thang. If I have it and go to war as a democracy my libraries and universities are getting torched 5-10 turns later...savage students.

Which begs the question, why can't we do something like nerve staple the citizens and force them back to work? In Civ3 it could be called "Mobilize Riot Police". Froce the people to work and lose 2 culture per turn.

Anyway, Adam Smith saves a ton of money so that's what I go for.

I'm a wonder hog, but if forced to choose the best one, it's gotta be the Sistine. Works anywhere in the world, never expires, and creates an effect that cannot be duplicated by building city improvements. I love the Great Library, but could live without it... not so sure about the Sistine.
