Communism
Almost every game i play in Civ3 I go from Despotism -> Communism.

Communism seems to be the end all be all for warmonger civs with huge empires.

but, i havent been able to actually define the corruption levels for a communism. It says that all cities suffer the same corruption, but how does it determine it?

my guess is that is takes into account the max city distance or something and averages it with the # of cities to give each city the same % of corruption, but wouldn't it need a scale to base it on?

I would guess it does a sum of all city distances then divides by # of cities. Otherwise your empire gets more efficient as it gets bigger (assuming uniform distribution, # of cities goes up as the square of max city distance, since we're playing on a flat 2-d map).

it was discussed in the strategy forum earlier last week...

its only based on # of cities..

if u did not know.

the number of cities u have creates corruption.
Communism loses half its production in its "inner cities" and makes all cities the same.. no matter where they are...

But corruption in communism can become pretty bad if u get an incredible amount of cities :/

just think of it as u lose half ur production and gold income... to corruption in communism...

I once tried to switch a large republic over to communism. HUGE mistake. I watched my total civ waste jump by over 20% so that my core cities were now hampered and the distant cities really werent helped enough to overcome the large drop in the core ones.

FP? Don't know.

Courthouses should still reduce by about 20%. Ditto PoliceStations.

I'm about to find out though, so I'll let you know. The Republic has stood through war and famine (OK it's not in the game, but it must happen) for 2000 years undisturbed. Got into a modern war with a very capable civ. WW shot to 50% within 8 turns. Was hoping to stay in Republic until SDI was discovered. Now it's *welcome Comrade* and hope I can nuke the h*ll out of the other guy if he ever lifts a nuclear finger. I have 20 ICBMs; he has none, yet. Nobodies used any nukes yet, so the chain is still on me. Everyone else will hate me if I'm first.
