Crazy Workers
When I automate my workers they do strange things lihe planting forests everwhere. Has anyone else had this problem?

The AI for worker actions doesn't always have the same priorities you do. Automate to specific tasks, like pollution cleanup or railway building.

They don't plant forest everywhere, but rather cut it. The only tiles where they plant forest, are tundra tiles after Engineering was discovered. Tundra can't be better improved than making out of 1 food + 0 shields a 1 food + 2 shields tile. No irrigation there (that would be stupid on permafrost soil).

Hated these crazy workers myself to but... sometimes it works just fine. Lately I owned a few continents which I improved by hand (so no automatic land improvement). When this was done I used shift-A. This tells the workers to leave the existing improvements alone. Since all tiles are improved they dive into the nearest city but show up automatically if pollution occurs. Saves a lot of shift-P hits and I recommend using it in this cases.

(It would imo be even better to take out pollution from the game since it is easy to solve and therefore only adds to the amount of management to be done and not to the fun but that is a completely different subject).
