A Close Comparison of CIV III With Others
The AI is weak in Naval battles and Strategy;
Competitive land battles but AI will most likely lose one on one;
The AI usually needed to gang up on human to win;
Wall Street is like CDs;
Learn to trade with everyone to prevent wars;
Some times you have to wipe out your neighbor to win;
Cannot solve problems between other players;
The railroad is faster than Air force or Navy;
Nuclear age should begin around 1950s not 2025;
It is getting too crowded so starve if you keep profaning me;
Let us start again. It is getting too crowed;
Year 2050 and all I need is lasers;
Fun game but not finished yet.

Wait. Weren't you the one who started an incoherent thread asking about the specifics of "outposts" in Civ 3 because such things existed in some other games?

In real life, Wall Street changes with war and rumors and economics. However, once Wall Street is built in Civ III, it always has a constant interest rate.

And in real life you also aren't a god with absolute power and a 6000-year lifespan.

There's realism and then there's overdoing it.

Unless you're a brighter man than I, you haven't come up with a way of modelling socioeconomics very well at all, so there's a certain level of detail beyond which we can't go, and an even lower level of detail that's practical for a game....

My outposts worked well in Civ III. It is based upon my use of my Navy and my defense of my older cities.

I thought my input into the "Outpost" thread was excellent.

Yes, well, let's not delve back into the realm of dadaism that thread inhabited, okay?

I have not made it to the Deity level yet. I must have a win to move up a level (I am still on level four).

Modeling socioeconomically would make the game more fun, true. I must agree that it would take a lot of computations for sixteen civilizations. I would like to see banks with the power of standard CDs while Wall Street to be more like Wall Street. Most of my games are decided upon an economic victory (so that I can build things). The UN victory is all me against the other guy, and we will not vote for the other guy.

Of course it is. Take the stock market over any length of time more than 5 or 6 years and it consistantly grows. Invest money (with professional help) now and you will have more when you retire. I guarantee it.

That thread did funny things to my mind when I read it. Anyhoo...

I guess if it is a mutual fund, it will not go out of business or spin off. My mutual funds still needs more attention than CDs. I like CDs. The five or six years that I have been looking at Wall Street has done well over all. However, some individual companies have done badly. CDs though paid for college and my first real investment.
