the vp?? how do we choose him
sorry for misspelling the tittle of the thread

It seems that all of us will agree that if just one guy runs for president he will appoint the vp

but what happens if more than one are running for president??

until now we´ve made it this way
1st election, two candidates, but one didn´t want to win, only to be the vp

2nd election, two candidates, the winner is the president and the losers the vp

3rd election, one candidate, the vp is appointed

i thought that the vast majority of us prefered the vp to be appointed even if there were more than just one candidate

but maybe i was missunderstood,
so let´s get this thing settled

appointed or second one in the election race??????????????

Since there is always a very real possibility that the VP will become President, I think that person should at least be someone who stuck his neck out and *tried* to get the job.

And if 3 people run for President, at least then the Peoples' 2nd choice would be in line to assume office if needed.

On this subject, I agree with Cavebear, although I also believe the 2nd place Presidential Candidate should have the right to choose not to be Vice President, in which case the Vice Presidency should go to the candidate with the next largest number of votes, if there is another, and if they accept. (It would continue through all the candidates until one actually agreed to be VP. If none agreed, or there were no more candidates, then the President could appoint the VP.)

I agree with the above posts, and that the vp should be a losing presidential candidate, and an appointment as a last resort.

Any elected candidate can always resign the position. The 2nd place Presidential candidate is not *obligated* to serve as VP, though I expect that would be remembered in future campaigns for office.

Since the demands of the VP position are really very limited (become President if the job is vacated, and hold elections at the end of the month), may I suggest that a Minister can also hold the position of VP (but not also President)?

Bugger. I was hoping for a position that required some responsibilities (like the polling) and contacting the Advisors for reports, as well as having the game and seeing what was going on (it's not quite the same when you just hear about it/see screenshot), without having to risk actually playing the game yet. As it is, I don't feel confident enough to actually play the game as Prez, but I thought VP would be the best way to learn HOW to be Prez.

I know VP is supposed to be Prez in case of resignation, but I was kinda hoping that wouldn't often happen. I was looking at VP as a kind of internment to being an Advisor or Prez, a way of seeing how it was done without risking the responsibilities.

It looks like if you want to get involved, you've just gotta bite the bullet and throw yourself in at the deep end by running for advisor.

Second in the presidential race. If the second-place finisher doesn't want it, then he can be given the option of declining. In that case, we could elect a new VP in a separate election, or appoint him as a last resort.

I support that if there is more than one candid for the president post, the second to the president should become vicePresident as well as everyother post in the cabinet!

ALSO I believe and agree with the last post before this!

In a democracy, election is the royal way for leading.
V/P function would be an usefull school for government if a new citizen is candidate.
