Any of you dummies NOT using the number pad to move units in MP games
I nearly fell off my chair when I saw someone suggest using the number pad to move units as something they had "just discovered".

It does save so much time - please, please tell me noone is still using the mouse for movement in MP games!

Well actually...
I used to use the number pad but I use the Mouse GoTo now... Just press the spot where you want the active unit to go and keep your finger on the left mouse button and it goes to that spot.

You can do multiple Gotos this way but not so effectrive on my connection.

Not using the number pad must be a foreign thing, I can't believe any aussie would do that.

Pointing units with a mouse is the only way to do things for long, RR travels cross country. Only a dummy would hit the number pad 30 times to get a unit to move. But for normal movement, sure.

I showed him that...

This is extremely i mean EXTREMELY useful when your the host. If fast slide pace is turned on your units just teleport to their destination.

I never use the key pad to move, always the mouse and have never had any problems with slow turns. I normally play simul games and really haven't seen any need to speed up my moving units, but for you horsey I will give it a try my next game

ever noticed that using a mouse when attacking is diffenerent from using the keypad?
when you attack by using the keypad, the unit remains on the square it attacked from after winning the battle.
when using the mouse the unit will move to the square it attacked after winning.

You need to mix and match depending on the situation.

I always use the number pad for attacking and I always use the Mouse GoTo for moving units around.

I never use the Mouse arrows though.

People might be confused about the diffrence here. The Mouse GoTo is brilliant. All morons should try it out

Another thing I've noticed about the Mouse GoTo is that there seems to be a higher percentage chance of moving that extra square after 2/3rds movements is used up. But I'm not sure if I'm just imagining things....

Use mouse for blitz attacks
So the mouse allows blitz attacks there you can win a battle and move forward to the square there the enemy unit was. This speeds up the attack and is good in storm attacks

If when you get a good attack and you have movement left, you can still advance if you want, so there's really not any difference.

Awhile back, I tested to see if the likelyhood of advance on less than one movement point was better. I never proved it either way. But that was a few versions ago.

Back when I first started playing SP and never knew to use the keys, I'd build roads around my cities so I could expend movement before attacking out of the city so the unit wouldn't advance when it won. TALK ABOUT SILLY.
