1100 AD Science
Alright, we're currently about halfway done researching gunpowder and should have it in 4 or 5 turns.

Here are the techs that computer civs have (or are researching) and we don't:

Egyptians: Chemistry, economics, medicine, university
Indians: currently researching Bridge building

So, what should we strive to research after gunpowder? Here are the choices we will have

Astronomy (gives copernicus' observatory, leads to navigation and theory of gravity (with university))

University (gives university, leads to economics, ToG, chemistry (with medicine), metallurgy)

Feudalism (leads to chivalry, theology)

Democracy (gives statue of liberty, leads to conscription (with metallurgy))

Medicine (leads to sanitation, chemistry)

Bridge Building

You've got 2 days to vote.

Astronomy. We can steal or trade the rest! Plus it'll give us access to navigation, which would be great for exploring our world.

I support getting Univeristy and on to Metallurgy ASAP, but, as CannonFodder so cleverly noticed, we could steal University. Maybe we need a what-should-we-steal poll?

Good idea...although if we go to the war against the egyptians anytime soon, we have the option of stealing techs when capturing cities, right? I should put up a poll for what we should get if we do steal their techs.

I think you should give me some clear decisions on what we should take from the Egyptians when we take their cities. They have some useful techs...

Which should I take? Chemistry, economics, medicine, university?

And I'll need to know what to research on our own. I think it should be something we can't get from the other civs.

More specific to the poll, though, it would be nice to get Feudalism since that will give us a path to some different units. In some ways, Knights can be better than Crusaders. They can hold what they take.

Feudalism is worthless for defensive units once we have gunpowder. If we are first to chivalry, however, that would be good.

I say Astronomy. We could build the observatory and be a step closer to Navigation and steam engine. I want ironclads killing AI phalanx!

It's sad that the AI has so many techs that we don't. Another reason to build the observatory and go to war...

I am also opposed to feudalism and agree with suggestions that we should research things the Egyptians don't have. Another vote for Astronomy then.

I would suggest researching Democracy, and taking University from the Egyptians, in order to head towards Conscription as fast as possible.

I would say --> go for Demo so we can build SoL using stockpilled caravans so we can switch to commy by doing this we will at least double our science and tax revenue.
=> we research faster, we can steal some techs. The use of astronomy isn't that big at this moment.

Exactly. The only way we'll get them to trade techs with us will be at gunpoint.

I think it is because they want Copernicus's, Magellan's, and Navigation (for Caravels and beyond). I was thinking of Feudalism, myself, to get toward Cavalry, but that doesn't seem like the best choice now.

I understand the value of getting Democracy (to get SoL and choose Communism). We have to to something; our corruption and unhappiness problems are increasing. We'll have to start building Colliseums or increase our Luxury Rate soon otherwise. Apolyton and Walvis have an unhappy citizen now (though I can adjust resources for that). But it won't last forever before I have to change a Worker to an Entertainer.

Alright, so the poll is closed. It looks like we'll be shooting for astronomy, and following that we have a tie between feudalism and democracy. Should I run a new poll on that, or allow our president to excersise his executive decision-making skills?

I will go for Astronomy first. And since I was one of the votes for Feudalism (and now renounce that vote in favor of Democracy), I will take Democracy as the next prefered choice.

The will of the People has been declared. I will follow their will!

there need to be 2 ppl willing to trade before something is possible.
We want to trade that's one...(problem : we are the only ones with that desire...)

Actually, after Astronomy there should be another poll, for we might have other needs at the time.
And changing your vote after an election in order to achieve a personal preference is illegal.

It is possible Astronomy won't be offered when I need to make a choice, so I wanted to be clear about the second preference. I will certain request a poll if opportunity allows.

And, um, I will just *selflessly* discount my own vote for Feudalism and *humbly* obey the wishes of the other Citizens who then have voted 4 to 3 for Democracy.
