Patches in PTW?
Do you think that Play The World will make all patches to that point obsolete?

Most likely it will include all patches up to that point, plus one or two more fixes.

Simialar was with Civ2, Starcraft ans several other games which had XPs.
I just hope they'll still support basic Civ3 (with more patches).

I would hope so too. If just for the fact that I don't want to hear more whining.
The question is, I guess, if they release a patch, will it contain the editor of the xp? I can understand the new civs and the MP and other goodies only in the XP, but an enhanced editor? I don't know how I feel about that. Since it isn't an addition, its only a refinement.

I think that editor will be in both patch and XP.
XP would probably be reserved for extra civs, finished sceanrios, and MP.

I think, that after the XP, the majority of their efforts will be shifted to Civ4. With only a couple of guys working on crash/bug related patches on their spare time.

It's not that now is woking more then four or five of them.
(in one of previous chats, but not last one, someone from Firaxis said that there is about 4.5 programmers total working on patches).

I'm hoping that this one will sell well, and there will be multiple xp's, like what happened with civ2. Like this one is historical civs. I would like to see a fantas/sci fi one next. Would be great, something I loved about ToT, ability to play 3 different games, and in the fantasy and sci fi, play with civs that are wildly different.

I would like to see a future tech tree. This will give some players incentive to research some of the bad parts of the modern tree, the one that leads to radar artillary to name one.

I agree, I really hope that with the XP they include a tech tree that goes farther into the future. I mean I'm glad they didn't try to do it for the regular game, but for an XP I think that they should include it.

A good Modern age would help, let alone the future.
I still want the option to limit a game to specific ages though. EG play only medival times.

Agreed. I only shine in Industrial and Modern Ages.
