Payment options.
Just wondering, after all this rumour of pay-per-play, which do you prefer, a one of $100 to buy the CD, or a free patch and $1 per game.

Figures are only exemplary.

I'd rather buy the CD and get free playability.

I want to pay 25 cents/month for ten years.
And I want a foldout tech poster!

Hell, the way things go with Firaxis, the ONLY way you can play MP is to pay for the use of their servers.

How did it work for Civ 1 and 2 MP? That may be how it will work for 3 MP.

If there is ANY additional fee beyond the PTW (and I am not even sure I will buy it: depends on price and MORE importantly: what's in it for that price), then count me out. There are a number of good games out there are require monthly fees to play, and I am not/will not play them for that reason and that reason alone.

I will only buy PtW if it has something besides MP. I don't play MP so I see no real reason to buy it.

I don't want to pay for something that should have been in the game from the start. But that said if it was €15 or less I'd pay for it. Anything else no way I'd much rather stick to playing EU2

I'm really gonna get ballistic if they make us pay per play. That is the ultimate form of American Capitalistic Satanic Greed.

Maybe I shouldn't hold back how I really feel about pay per play but I don't want to scare anyone.

the firaxians devised a system in which you put 4 quarters in the middle of their cd (they made the hole a bit bigger, they dont need all that room for data) each time you want to start a new game. or so i'm told.

How did this pay to play rumor get started?

Seem's like everyone is getting worked up over some wild speculations.

I think that those of us who bought the limited edition Civ 3 should be able to turn in our tin and get a 50% discount off of PtW. Afterall, the Limited edition was a complete rip-off. Maybe they could take pity on suckers like myself.

Read the threads started by GP (I know there were 3 or four) I believe that was where the unfounded rumor started. A bit of a trolling expedition.

Well, all of my tin cans say you can turn it in for 5¢ in NY and a couple of other US states. Perhaps that's a start.

No, you guys get another special offer, limited edition Play the World! But this one comes in a wooden box. (That nickel a can thing was overlooked the first time.)

While we're on the topic, they should make a developer's edition in a coffin. For guess who...

I'm going to buy the expansion : scenarios and probable scenario editing tools make it worth, plus the new Civs will probably have specific traits. MP doesn't spoil it either, even if it isn't my top priority : I like to play hotseat or LAN
But if there is a pay per play option, there is no way I support this, and I'll just download the XP, without ever playing by paying. Pay per play would be unforgivable.

Once again I agree with Spiffor entirely. I find that if they charge for payment, I'll indeed download it, or do the next best thing, publish it on the net.

The chances of MP being pay for play are about as great as Ming banning himself.

I think you're probably right. I don't think even Infogrames is that crazy. The backlash would be intense. Probably the deathblow. Or not, since they already have their money. we shall see. we shall see.

Everyone, Ming just banned himself.

I think that Firaxis will put in a pay for play option.
