CNN report from Peru:
The Southern Federation, as a response to the condemnation issued by the Lakes and Honolulu Pacts, has released this public statement:

"Great Leaders of the Lake and Honolulu Pacts:
We are dismayed at your aggressive stance towards our country from the moment of the election of President Mark Firelad. All actions committed by the Federation are in self-defence only. We will not remove our presence from Central America as long as we are threatened by New Canadian troops at our borders, for we need that strategic territory for our defence against possible New Canadian aggression.
We are a people of peace. But we cannot stand idle as our neighbors threaten us with war, whether subtly or openly. We are forced to declare a state of emergency, in response to the statements and actions of New Canada and the Lakes and Honolulu pacts.
Again, we plead for peace, and warn the nations of the Lakes and Honolulu pacts that war with the Southern Federation may not be in their best interests.
Also, there was no invasion or occupation of the British Isles by the Southern Federation."

Military sources report that reinforcements are being sent by the Southern Federation to all its borders, as the situation deteoriates rapidly. Fire was exchanged at the Brazil-Columbia border, as both sides blame each other for violations.

In other news: Apparently, not everyone is afraid of war. South American shepherds are not dismayed by the grim prospect. The great herds of sheep that have graced the lands for generations only seem to grow.

In response, New Canada and her allies have issued a statement:

"We are horrified by the terrorist actions that you have committed in the British Isles, and view your denial of these allegations as laughable.

In addition, internal troop movements within the borders of New Canada are our internal affairs. You have struck first into our territories, and not the other way around. So there."

Demonstrators in New Canada burnt the Southern Federation flag and splashed the Southern Federation embassy with neon paint.

In other news, a beaver fell into the Amazon River today and was promptly chomped up by malicious piranhas. The owner of the beaver, a Colombian trader in various amazing substances, has condemned the piranhas, and dismissed allegations that the beaver was under the influence of his "amazing substances" as "ludicrous".

CNN breaking news:
A small herd of sheep, led by a middle-aged shepherd apparently attempting to visit an old friend, has crossed the Columbian border into Peru. In an unfortunate incident, Southern troops, viewing this as an invasion, have bombed the said herd and shepherd into mush. Immidiately, demonstrations began to rally around the country, calling for a "Strong Defence against Aggression". President Mark Firelad is unavailable for comment and is at an undisclosed location.

War looming in the Western Hemisphere:
Vast, unclear and white formations appear at the borders of Peru, Brazil, Mexico and the Central American Province of the Southern Federation and seem poised to cross the border. Warplanes patrol the skies above in a menacing manner.
New Canadian forces are confused as to sudden malfunctions of military equipment and attribute those incidents to Southern Sabotuers. Also, 3 New Canadian scout teams appear to be missing.
Military and Naval sources report that as many as 7 carrier groups are departing from Southern naval ports. There are also reports of troop movement inside Southern territories.

In other news:
A team of journalists has uncovered a major Applied Genetics and Cloning research lab in Argentina, speculating that the origin of some of the equipment may have originated in Britain. The team, before losing contact with CNN Headquarters, had also reported of numerous experiments in cloned sheep, exclaiming at one point over the jam-proof radio that "it's Dolly all over again!"
The Southern Federation Ministry of Science has feverently denied claims as to possible British origin of cloning equipment. "If you think we need to go to those silly brats in England to get our equipment, you are wrong. We are perfectly able to design and produce our own cloning and cyber-interface equipment."

This change of leadership has brought the world new vigour, President Firelad. I admire your strengths and wholeheartedly invite you to join me in a new pact.

But before we can do so, I find there is one essential partner, without whom we cannot go: The PRNZ is dear to my heart, and I would not want to let them miss out.
I know hom you value your communist principles, comrade frankychan... And I think we should strengthen our bonds. The Southern Federation would make an excellent partner. Due to the absence of the leaders of Tungstenia and Richelieu, both de facto under your command. The signing of this pact would mean the recognition of your rule over the Pacific, making Tungstenia and Richelieu your provinces. I'm sure we can then solve the issues of late between the Souther Federation and Richelieu (involving Central America) and we'd be able to find a middle ground.
If you would agree on joining Greater Mongolia and the Southern Federation. I will gift to you the territory of Western Australia.

AS for you, President Firelad, I can't give you anything yet, except my word, but if there's any land (outside of Eurasia) you desire, I am willing to help you conquer it.

I dearly thank you for your offer of alliance, and accept it. May our two countries prosper together! together with you, I too invite Comrade Frank to join us; the planned, socialist economy of the Southern Federation will prosper together with PRNZ's communism.
Friend, you have suggested your aid none too soon. The aggressive policies of New Canada has forced the Southern Federation into similar, admittedly aggressive actions. We will not fire the first rounds of war, but in a case of escalation we would be grateful for any aid you may render us in the struggle against New Canada and its allies. I would also be glad not to count Chairman Frank among those allies which we may be forced to battle.

And I agree, war should not be our primary goal... but perhaps we could convince other world leaders to adopt the socialist ideology and join our alliance.

His most high majestic...um, Majesty, Tsar Boris I of Godunova, has issued the following statement:

"Godunova is sickened by the crimes of the Southern Federation, once a valuable ally under the level-headed David Dalgetti. The invasion of Central America is intolerable, as is the disgusting terrorist acts in Great Britain.

Boris hereby throws himself whole-heartedly into the Lake Pact and stands shoulder-to-shoulder with those nations agains Southern aggression. He demands the immediate withdrawl of Federation forces from Central America and the cessation of all terrorist activities."

3 of Godunova's mighte Mega-Carrier warships were seen deploying into the Atlantic early this morning, and they incredibly mighty Godunovan army has been put on full mobilization status. The Godunovan ambassador to the Southern Federation has been withdrawn in protest, and Boris is urging all freedom-loving nations of the world to unite in a full embargo against the Federation until it complies with Lake Pact demands. Failure for the Federation to comply is tantamount to war.

...President Mark Firelad sits uncomfortably in his large command chair at the undisclosed location. He broods over the latest world events. "So that is how it's gonna be," he says to himself.
He presses a big button on his chair. A screen in front of him comes to life, and a middle-aged scientist asks him from the other side of the line: "Yes, Mr. President?"
Mark Firelad hesitates for a moment, then clear his throat. "Deploy operation Lethal Sheep in 24 hours. Code Two-Five-Alpha-Four-Epsilon-Delta."
The scientist winces visibly. "Are you sure, Mr. President?"
"You have your orders. Firelad out."
President Firelad presses another button, and the screen goes blank. With shaky fingers he twists a knob. The room darkens, and if there was anyone else there, they could have heard a whisper: "What have I done?"...

You have 12 hours to comply with the demand for withdrawl, or a state of war will be declared. You cannot withstand the combined wrath of the nations of the Honolulu and Lake Pacts, and all you will accomplish is the suffering of your people and your own destruction. Think carefully.

Hearing the news about the Ultimatum issued by Tzar Boris, Firelad was enraged. Without a word, he fired up the screen again, and shouted at the scientist: "You have a change in orders. Deploy Operation Lethal Sheep now!"
He then arose from his chair, and stormed out of the command-center.

Some half an hour later, the following announcement was broadcast, with minor variations, in all major world media and news channels:

Breaking News:
War! The Southern Federation, in a rather expected move, has invaded New Canada at several fronts. New Canada's Southern American territories are being overwhelmed by a hammer-and-anvil invasion from two fronts. On the Mexican border, the Southern Federation forces are now advancing as well, alebit more slowly, taking great care to entrench their positions.
Fighting in all fronts is heavily supported by artillery and aerial bombardment.
New Canada's island possessions are being bombed from the sky and sea, and most are also in early stages of amphibious invasion.
Strangely, there are very few human beings in the Southern Federation Army. Most of the corps are made out of cloned, genetically and cyber-enhanced sheep, swarming across the landscape in great numbers.
Several sea-skirmishes are being fought with Godunova, with no desicive winners as yet. It is speculated that an invasion of Africa is being planned by utilising several attack waves of diverse composition.
Large Southern submarine presence is making itself felt in the Atlantic Ocean.
We still await news of the actions of the Southern Federation's only confirmed ally, New Mongolia.

NEWS

Having anticipated the Federation's evil sneak attack, Tsar Boris gives the immediate go ahead for the long-planned and top-secret "Operation Lamb Stew"

Several dozen Godunovan nuclear submarines, strategically positioned off the coasts of South America and cloaked from all radar and sonar, immediately launch scores of ballistic missles. Within minutes, the unsuspecting population of South America's cities are rained upon by fiery death from the sky. Entire neighborhoods of Rio, Buenos Ares, Brasila and all other major Federation cities are levelled in minutes, killing scores.

In the Atlantic, stealth bomber squadrons launch from the Mega-Carriers and begin supporting Godunova's battleships by bombing the bejesus out of the Federation fleet.

Meanwhile, Godunovan Fighter jets that had been secretly stationed at hidden bases on Carribean islands begin aerial assaults on the advancing sheep army, resulting in instant shish-kabobs and the smell of mutton in the air...

Tsar Boris dispatches an urgent communique to Dalgetti, his former closest ally, and explains the situation of the world, stressing President Mark's tyrannical aggression and his causing a world war. Boris requests Dalgetti, for the sake of humanity on Earth, b*tch-slap his heir and set him straight. Boris profoundly regrets having to rain down destruction on South America, but it was a provoked action, as the Southern Federation invaded a pact ally first. The Godunovan people are fully prepared to provide economic stimulus for rebuilding once President Mark has surrendered unconditionally and resigned from power, handing himself over for trial on charges of crimes against humanity.

Whoa! Whoa! STOP! This whole stupid war is based on a large misunderstanding!
As you may recall, Central America was part of Richelieu, which was part only of the Honolulu Pact. Moreover, the de facto ruler of Richelieu was Frankychan of the PRNZ... And the Southern Federation and Mongolian Empire are in talks with him about forming an alliance AGAINST the Lakes Pact. This entire war seems wholly premature.
If both of you do not end this war immediately I must intervene!

Regardless, Mercator, it is the Southern Federation that has caused the war by invading New Canada. They started it. It is his responsibility to stand down. President Mark will have to recall his troops and make reparations to New Canada at the very least.

You can see by his failed moon laser stunt that he is a madman who would gladly destroy you in the process of his megalomania. You would be best served not only to renounce him, but join us against him.

You still exist! Well, not all that much has happened really, except that Central America was taken from you by the Southern Federation ashort while ago. And that annexation seems to have caused an nth World War.

Godunova and the Eastern European Empire took a firm stance against this annexation, as well as some alleged terrorist action of the Souther federation in Great Britain. Godunova dispatches an army, and after noticing this apparent threat, President Firelad of the Southern Federation decided to invade New Canada. Upon this act of war, the Godunovan army came into action and launched attacks on South America... In turn, that caused me to invade Godunova.

You might be the person to call for a cease fire... Or join in, of course.

The Chancellor of New Canada & Kaladar has declared Greater Mongolia and the Southern Federation enemies of the world.

"Whoever joins them is a terrorist." He has said. "We congratulate New Zealand, Godunova, Greater Finland, Palestine and the EEE in continuing to take the right side. Together, we shall crush the evil Empires."

Kaladar has also attacked all the African possessions of the Southern Federation on both sides using genetically engineered beavers that shoot acid at the cyborgey things that the Southern Federation has conjured up.

The apparent lack of resistance in Madagascar was explained when a massive fleet landed troops on the coast of India. Bombay and New Delhi have been captured in surprise attacks by the combined armies of Kaladar, Godunova and EEE. Finnish troops have also began moving into Siberia.

As for Madagascar, it is currently being ruthlessly blockaded...

Just a note about the moon laser: I was aware of the "rule" against nukes - only that I kinda thought that levelling someone's cities = WOMD... So I did the same. And even then, I didn't actually USE it, just threaten to. I'll edit out that part now, seeing as the bombing of cities to the ground didn't work anyway

Mark Firelad watches intently as Godunova attempts to destroy his invasion force.
He chuckles under his breath.
The evil attempt to massacre the civilians of the Southern Federation was, of course, largely unsuccessful - since most civilians were evacuated to refuges deep under the Andes. Of his aerial assaults, the SAF will take care. They're vastly superior, using direct computerised control in some warplanes and genetically engineered cyborgs in others.
The naval forces of the Southern Federation are deployed in a defensive position, effectively preventing any chance of naval invasion of South America; The Sothern carriers (while not having a cool name as Godunova's Mega-Carriers, are no inferior in technology), submarines and other vessles can withstand even the combined might of the world's powers.
Despite growing resistance, the Sheep-Armies press forward into New Canada, gradually taking over, using combined forces of great might. The New Canadian territory in South America has already been taken.
No troops are being spent on defence in Africa yet, but aerial convoys are constantly supplying the Southern Federation's ally Greater Mongolia with cloned reinforcements, as well as with scientists that help Mercator construct his own cloning centers for his favourite beast.
All in all, the war goes well for the New Alliance.

A transmission to Dalgetti's hyper-relays reads thus:
"David my friend! People of Incubia! Greetings from Earth!
I am very glad to hear of your success. May you grow yet more powerful than ever... And a more happy people. Here on Earth things are going much as they used to... Aggression and treachery and war.
I have been betrayed by your former neighbors, New Canada, and was ultimately forced to declare War. Fortunately, it is going rather well, and the Lakes Pact's attempts to destroy our people has been largely unsuccessful. Except for the terrible massacres in Africa. How I pain for the innocents!
But the Southern Federation shall liberate these lands.

Fare thee well, friend, and you as well, People of Incubia."

As protector of all members of the Honolulu Pact, I must say that Southern Federation aggression into Central America is deplorable...but due to pressing matters the PRNZ will NOT intervene. Furthermore, I will join an alliance with Greater Mongolia and the Southern Federation but will not engage in aggressive hostilities toward other nations. My holdings of tropical beverages are a staple of PRNZ's GNP!
If Western Australia is given to the PRNZ, I will pledge our support to the "New Socialist Front".

Also, I will not tolerate any further aggression into Honolulu Pact-members territories! War will be declared against any nation who further invades OUR Pacific Rim....unless a more lucrative deal can be made....

(Soviet) Reuters- Chairman Frank has just announced that Soviet forces will tolerate the Southern Federation's occupation of Central America provided no more aggression takes place. Our leader further shocked the world by stating that he would ally with any Socialist-leaning country. Chairman Frank had this to say:

"Right now, aside from Honolulu-Pact members, I see the only ally to the PRNZ is none other than.....GREATER MONGOLIA and the Southern Federation! However, Soviet forces will not engage in hostilites with comrade nations in the Lakes Pact and the Honolulu Pact.

In the Comros, Zulu warriors under the command of Hobbes suddenly descend from their hiding places in the mountainous jungles, armed with laser-guided pointy sticks. The Mongolian forces are so unprepared for the surprise attack that they are shortly massacred to the last man, victims of a terrible, pointy death.

As the Mongolian army rolls across Arabia, it is stopped in its tracts by the massive tanks brigades of Godunova, universally acknowledged as the world's largest and finest mobile fighting force. The silly Mongols must have forgotten about the tanks, which were sent in when we conquered Arabia in the first place. An all-out battle ensues in which the tank treads become slick with the gooey insides of the pesky Mongols. But it's rather like swatting flies. The Godunovan airforce launches air support, wreaking utter havoc with laser-guided missles at the Mongol troops

Meanwhile, in the southern Atlantic, the fleet of submarines that had been delivering their payloads of missiles to the S. American cities turn are finished, and join in the raging sea battle. However, since they were already behind enemy lines, the Godunovan navy now has the Federation navy pinned on two fronts. Coming from an island originally, the Godunovans are superior seamen, and soon it is clear they inflicting enough massive damage on their fleet to insure its loss in a matter of hours.

In South America, there seems to be a sudden lull as the Godunovan fighter jets disappear from the skies. However, soon hundreds of submerged transports surface up and down the coast, and unleash their cargo into the flank of the sheep army--an army of cybernetically enhanced border collies. It's a horrific sight as the sheep are ripped to shreds by the dogs, or just coralled into harmless grazing patterns. Soon the might of the sheep army is no more, and the collie army assembles with it's eyes looking south...

Tsar Boris calls to an aide, "Now...Sink it."

"Are...are you sure, sir?"

"DO IT NOW!"

The aide gives an order. It turns out, the reason Madagascar was seemingly defenseless was that the population had been spirited away into deep internal bunkers. You see, Godunova began in Madagascar, and only a FOOL would think it is defenseless. For decades, the engineers had worked to turn into the same kind of lethal trap they prepared in Arabia.

At the press of a button, the entire island begins to sink into the ocean. With a deafening noise, the land slips beneath the waves rapidly. Torrents of water flood over the shocked Mongolian forces, drowning them by the hundreds of thousands in seconds. The massive swell from the sinking shatters the Mongolian fleet, and, unfortunately, wreaks havoc on the further-out fleet of Godunova's allies.

"Bring it back up after an hour" commands Boris. It will be soggy, sure, but mostly intact. Except, of course, for having to clean up all those dead Mongols.

Boris dispatches a message to the Southern Federation and Mongolia:

"As you can see, you are outnumbered, outmaneuvered and out-thought. Continued war will only mean continued destruction of your people. Already the Lake and Honolulu pacts are demolishing your forces. We suggest you sue for peace, and we can assure generous terms with minimal losses to your lands and prestige."

In the meantime, several black-clad commando teams that had been stationed in Eco-Alaska cross the Bering strait in secret and land on the eastern coast of Mongolian territory, secretly working their way inward undetected...

anyway, i've put up a site detailing the history of this Conquest Thread. I've just started it, and believe it or not, this is my first website, so please understand if the design qualities are somewhat poor
