stupid military advisor
i don't know if this bothers anyone but me, but... well, i guess there's a line of script for the military advisor that says "we can support a larger military. let's build _____." would it be that much of a problem to stick an "s" on the end so he says "let's build ___s"???

i mean, come on, dude. "let's build TANK"??? DON'T YOU MEAN TANKS ??? i know he's a big army thug, but he reminds me of one of those retarded cartoon villian sidekicks, like "daaah, gee, boss, let's build tank. daaaah, can't we build tank? purdy tank."

then he would also say "Let's build Horsemans" and "Let's build Cavalrys" and "Let's build Pikemans"

tishco - LMAO! that's what i'm talking about!

yeah, there should just be a plural entry somewhere in the code. that's what i was thinking. like in the production screen, it would say "tank." in the military advisor, it would say "tanks"! simple as that.

argh, i just can't stand the thought of my chief military strategist being an illiterate moron. either learn english or go join the barbarians!

Ever seen primary sources of Patton's inedited writings? [sic]'s all over the place. But then, Patton was a battlefield general and never a political logistics guy.

Of course you could perhaps edit the mil advisor [sic] to talk like Patton,

"Compared to these bastards, we're a pack of pussies!!!!"

LOL! that would be awesome!

on the serious tip, i'd first of all like to know who he's talking about when he says "these guys." all the other civs? one specific civ? the average of all the civs?

second, i'd like a better idea of exactly HOW strong or HOW weak our military actually is. if we have a god-like army, say god-like. if our army is akin to an army of elementary school crossing guards, say so!

i was thinking that after you have an intelligence agency and a spy in every country, there could be a chart to show military strength, culture, etc. but then i guess you'd know too much about the other civs and it wouldn't be fun anymore... imagine how boring it would be to look at the chart, go kill the weakest civ, repeat... blah.

A military graph like they have in CTP2 would be very helpful. It shows the realative power of each civ, both now and historically, plus you get a feel for how many units and of what type each country has. These sort of tools are fun and helpful and I'm sure they wouldn't be so hard to include.

There already is a power graph. It's opened by one of the f-keys (I can't remember which one ATM)

He talks about the civ that's currently selected on the right hand side of the screen.

Yes, you should be able to see the number of units of the other civ in the military advisor screen, once you have a spy in their country.
In order to see troop positions or other things, you need to perform specific espionage tasks with your spy, however. And those are pretty expensive.

I liked it better in the good old days when you had an embassy with someone and you could just find out how many units they had. Not the best judge of their power, but easier to understand.

And you know on the right side of the sceen in Civ3 where it says "Army of the [civilization] [monarchy/democracy/republic etc]"? When does it actually ever show their army there? When you've planted a mole or carried out some other kind of espinage mission?

Plant a spy and you'll be able to see exactly how many units they have in F3. Why cant the advisor find middle ground though? "We can support a larger army, build build build!!". Two turns and 2 new units later "we need more gold".....

As far as I know, that only shows you the overall power, not the military power as such. It only gives you a hint, what to expect from your enemy, but doesn't actually display anything you could rely on, IMO.

Actually - the power histograph can be wildly inaccurate - particularly when a civ respawns
