5/3/3 is WAY too strong. Unless they only have 1 speical ability that is unacceptable

Looks good, and I'm glad to see the Spanish back in the mix. One of my best friends was spanish and we used to always play his spanish against my Celts as a nationality match...he'll definately be pleased about that.

That spanish screenshot looks to me, as if they included seasons...
How would that work in the early game, when a turn takes 50 years (can't be ice ages, they come every 100,000 years, if I remember correctly)

The mongol heavy cavalry was VERY feared back in it's heyday. I couldn't think of a more appropriate unit for the mongol's UU.

You know, the units could be more expensive. Just because all of the UU in civ3 are the same cost doesn't mean the Conquistadore for example could cost a little more, say 80-90 shields instread of 70. Or the Mongol UU could cost 40 shields instead of 30.

Alright guys, we have four civs confirmed, but they are the four most likely to be considered all along to be the definite shoe-ins.
1. Spain (europe? mediterranean)
2. Carthage (mediterranean)
3. Vikings (europe)
4. Mongols (asia)

However, if we look closely at the Spainish image, we may be able to gain info on what cultural region the Spainish are. The Spainish are next to the Brits. Since the Spainish are next to a european civs, this makes a strong case for their being also European. Which, if this is true, means the expansion pack has reached it's limit of two european civs and that the Celts are almost certainly NOT in, in order to keep balance of the cultural regions.

On the multiplayer screen, there are two columns of boxes on the far righthand side. One is checked. I wonder what those are for. Also the thing at the bottom that just says "that" in a white rectangle.

also it appears that one of their beta testers is 1337

New revelations, the Viking UU definitely is the Bezerker

Looks very cool, the Bezerker has long been my dream Viking UU actually.

Here is a question for our Korean history gurus, were the Koreans at all known for the oriental artillery that appears in one of the screen shots? If so, this could be a possible clue pointing to the Koreans being in the game as well.

Anyone curious on the origin of the name Keshik, they were Genghis Kahn's personal guard.

"Patrol" mean going to one tile and coming back to the starting tile, automatically and infinitely. Good to look at your borders.

Viking and Spanish But no tercios, that's too bad.

Maybe the fireworks unit is the new Chinese UU, as Mongols aren't considered chinese anymore (I suppose they'll get rid of Gengis Khan and Khublai Lhan in the list of Chinese great leaders)

I suppose that the Keshik replace the swordsmen, but require horses. Or they are knights with a special ability. I don't hope so, because the world would be crowded with unique knights, but fairly homogenous units in other eras (well, maybe it's not a bad thing, because medieval era rocks bigtime)
Overall, we can feel the AOK influence.

Very nice snow covered graphic tile. Maybe they'll give support for seasons in the scenario editor But else, it can mean your map represents a snow covered region of the world (say, you're making a scenario about Siberia)

The Koreans are in!

If you go to the link that Panag supplies above and download the screenshots.zip file from the E3 site, you'll see the mystery picture- the rocket firing wheel barrow is called a hwacha.

One quick Internet search later and hwacha = "fire cartwheel", Korean artillery from the 1400's.

5 down, three to go...

Oh, Panag, your link above is interesting : we learn that Brennus will be a leader... He was the CELT chief who pillaged Rome. OK, now we know that the Mongols, the Spanish, the Carthaginians, the Vikings (Bergen / Trondheim are definitely Viking city-names, not Celt, except if Firaxis wanted to make a specific "Norwegian" civ just to piss off the Finns ), the Celts, and the Koreans. Who are the three left ?

Ah : "complete scenario support". At least, now we're sure.

Again, the link is :
http://www.us.infogrames.com/e3/inde...rld&euro=_euro
(Thanks Panag)

Wow...GOOD WORK Hawaii-Five-O, the Koreans are in, break out the wine!
Here's the list of leaders they say "Genghis Khan Temujin, King Hannibal, Queen Isabella and King Brennus "
Well that settles the Isabella vs. Ferdinand debate

If the Celts are in, the the Spainish have to be mediterranean, if Firaxis has even the remotest care of maintaining a semblance of Culutural balance

1. Celts led by King Brennus (Euros)
2. Vikings (Euros) UU Bezerker
3. Spain (mediterranean) UU Conquistador
4. Carthage (mediterranean) led by Hannibal (yay! no Dido!)
5. Mongols (Asia) led by Genghis Kahn UU Keshik
6. Koreans (asia) UU Asian Artillery

Another thing, the fact sheet tells "each Civilization features new units" Maybe they'll implement several specific units for the new Civs, like the expansion of AOK did : boat + chariots for the Koreans, specific priests + conquistadors for the Spanish, specific priests + jaguar warrios for the Aztecs.

Elimination and King of the Mountain : any idea of what it could be ?
Maybe elimination is a "cityless" Civ3 where you start with units only and must annihilate the units of your opponent(s)

Possibility to create scenarios in any era, including fantasy / future era (referred as "any time period, including those outside earth's history")

Sounds promising. I hope they learned from the original release of Civ3 though

Maybe Firaxis will consider Brennus as the Viking leader, but that would be absolutely unhistorical, and will ruin the reputation of the game among the educators (but who cares about the educators ?)

Surprising that the cover box is centred on Korea, for such a Eurocentric exp.

Hmm, great link panag. Lets you see the screenshots much more clearly, and shows the leader animations for Isabella and Genghis Khan, though sadly they still look half doped up. Also the screenshot of the Vikings is larger, so its easier to zoom in and look at the new Berserk unit. Kinda odd though, wonder if they're going to rename it to Berserker.

Yes, Panag, thanks for the link!

More digging on that site. The screenshots in the zip package are much clearer.

The Vikings UU is definitely called "Berserk".
