Morrowind system requirements.
What's the minimum video card you guys are running. I may have to buy another one, but the problem is the video card is one of the most expensive upgrades on a computer. Although I could buy an older, but still good one for probably aroune $100 I suppose.

And where are some good game review sites. I only read the Gamespot review, but now they only let you read the first page of the review. Although the reader reviews were excellent, and I've heard nothing but good things about this game.

I plan to buy it when it comes down in price a bit (assuming FP does still have the games he thinks he does - otherwise I might buy it now...). I seem to just about meet recommended reqs - what do people reckon my chances of running it at a decent speed are? I have:

Athlon 800
GeForce 2 GTS 32 Mb
256Mb RAM

Chowlett, it should run ok; I have a Duron 800, Geforce 2 MX 32MB and 256MB.
My framerates vary from 10-20 in the cities, 20-30 in the wilderness and 40-60 inside buildings at 800x600 resolution and 50% viewdistance. Sometimes the framerate drops below 10 (=not playable), but that only happens after exitting a building for (and it lasts only a few seconds).

The biggest problem I have is that often pauses 10-20 seconds when entering a another "zone", but I guess that has to do with the speed of my HD/memory...

Chowlett, you shouldn't have much trouble at all. I'm running an AMD 500MHz w/ 128 RAM.

And a 16 meg video card. I had to tweak it some but it runs pretty good for me.

the Video card is what I'm worried about

the minimum says 32 megs Vram

I have a Voodoo3 3000 which I'm pretty sure has 16 megs Vram.

I have to run it in a window, and set everything to minimum settings, but it works OK. Until I get a new video card that is.
If you have the money, get a new one if you don't you would have to make adjustments.

Same... so I'll wait to see if the laptop I'm getting for school has 32 MB Vram (based on what my parents want to pay for it), if not, GeForce, here I come.

Chowlett,

I have a PIII 750 and the same video card and ram as you have. At 1024x768 I have no problems. As others have pointed out on other forums, the view distance seems to affect frame rate more than anything else. You should be fine.

There were suggestions elsewhere on this board that the performance was vastly improved once the 'copy protection' wrapper was removed - this is reported to nearly double the required system spec - I have no personal experience - yet - since I'm hoping to persuade SG{3} to buy it for me on Father's Day - but I have downloaded the unwrapped .exe file from gamecopyworld in anticipation ...

SG[1]

My spec is essentially the same as yours, Chowlett
