Game setup
What settings should we use to set up the game?

My favorites would be:

Continents, huge map, 16 civs, 60% water, temperate, normal, 3 billion years, emperor level.

Discuss. We can make a poll later, as soon as we have enough reasonable options.

It doesn't matter what map we're on, it doesn't matter which civ we are... so long as we are Rome!

Probably continents, with the middle choice as far as total land mass.

Or just one multi-option one subdivided into many polls, with all the options for each setup included.

cf.

one of my polls.

Can we please keep the spam to acceptable levels - I'm sure MarkG is still watching this motley crew... especially noting some of the OT names here.

We really do need to cut down spam. The forum has already gotten huge (though the rate of growth will slow after we get established) and it takes time to wade through all of the information.

I wouldn't mind that, but it might be too easy in some cases, too hard in others. The imbalance of that will probably deter people from wanting to play on a pre-made map. Besides, it eliminates the fun of having to explore the world and wondering where all the civs are.
