Witch civ to choose?

When starting our game, our first major decission is what civ we are going to play.

This mainly depends on the type of game we want it to be.

My personal favourite would be the Iroquois as they are Expansionist/Religious.

Playing on a big map we need to explore our surroundings asap.

And we'll need the cheap temples once we start taking over other civ's and we grow to a size our people dont love us anymore

Iroquois are a good choice. Expansionist is powerful on huge maps and religious a must. But personally I would prefer a religious civ with a medieval GA. Japan or India would be fine.
