Lap Dance is my favourite worker action. Oh, I just kill myself.

Actually "AUTOMATE" is my favourite worker action. Set it and forget it

I really enjoy fortresses. I like putting them at important border areas, but also within my empire, at key sites, resources, and rail junctions.

They don't get much practical use, but I very much enjoy placing them!

Roads are the best. The increased movement is great. And they lay the foundation for railway lines.

Roads, since constructing them is what my workers do most of the time.

When I get to the point where I no longer want to expand in a certain direction--that is, when I feel that I want to leave my border in a certain place and dig in with the defense, I go for the "Maginot Line" tactic--placing forts every two or three squares so that they have interlocking ZOC. Even though ZOC no longer prevents movement, it does allow me to shoot down invaders with my Artillery stationed in the forts as they pass by.

Ah, there's nothing really like cleaning pollution. It's so great...
I guess my ideal turn would be to have to clean up pollution off 10 mountain tiles without roads on an isolated island with a single captured worker before Replaceable Parts and in Anarchy.

Ooooh I'm getting really hot now!

Build road definitely has too many pluses to ignore.

- Increase commerce output.
- Cut movement costs on that square to 1/3 of a movement point. Also means quicker deployment of more workers to get irrigation and mining tasks done quicker as well.
- Connect strategic/luxury resources to your cities, so as to be able to use them.
- Foundation for railroads, which then in turn increase food in irrigated squares and shields in mined squares.

So my vote definitely goes to roads.

I agree with everyone roads are most useful, however I still say fortresses are a lot more fun.

You put roads on pretty much EVERY SINGLE tile you control. Its a mindless chore, best left to a simple AI routine.

You put fortresses on key points that you pick out for strategic purposes. Granted, they don't get a lot of use in the game because the AI is loathe to attack, but still...

I'll take a few strategic choices over a mindless chore as more fun any day!

edit: Now that I think about it, roads are actually fun early when you are just connecting things, and thus there is still some thinking to it. But after it gets to the web the entire landscape stage... bleh!

definatly the most enjoyable action is selling captured enemy workers to other civs in exchange for goods, technology, and treaties!

roads are cool too though
