Restrict all save games that occurred in the last ten turns. If someone wants a ten turn old save, that's fine, because they won't be able to play out the same way that our President did. Thus, their results of playing ahead won't be close enough to what we're currently doing to inform us of what we should do.

If ten turns isn't enough, make it something else. Just an old save game where results of playing ahead won't be relevant.

What do you think of this compromise?
hi ,

even with sav's from every turn , they could never duplicate the moves , .....
it would be fun for the people to compare their moves , with the "official" game , more fun , ....

have a nice day

If the save is voted to be allowed for all, and if we are to distribute it via an email list, perhaps an alternative to trying to ban anyone who cheats ahead is to permanently remove their name from the email list, thus disallowing them from the save again, and if they continue to be a nuisance (despite perhaps adding them to everyone's ignore list) then perhaps we can try to get them banned from the site/forum.

Discommodation may be the answer.

We all simply turn our backs (ignore list).

Honour would have to be part of our culture.

hi ,

lets not start to sell the skin , before the bear is shot , ...
and imagine , a new citizen is born , he wants to down load game no such and such , ....
in the place of that complicated , difficult , maybe infected with a bug , costing a large amount with the provider , mail , .........it would be better to post them here on apolyton , ..... and when the game is over , or in X number of turns , people can download at their will , when they want (!) the SAV , .....

the first one who does something against the will of the gods , shall be punished , .....

have a nice day

now , for the last time it was suggested that the strategic intel and planning office should do a job , and what is intel , what is stratigic , planning ahead , ....not there for playing the game , but to see , how would this go , and that , basiccaly like in the real world , creating intel , so that when something happens , you can say , well this and that happend there and her , ....

is this so difficult to understand , ....nope , it aint , ...

and before someone start's to say , yeah but you wrote this or that , and you said this or that , ...no problem , but you sometimes have to see the whole pic , and not just take a person(s) on a certain word or so , ....

anyway , no-one talked about playing ahead , something was said , and some-one else , started to talk , "what , playing ahead" , that was never the intention , ...

anyway , have a nice , great , wonderfull day , night , where-ever you are
You fail to address the issue.

By supporting this you:

1) Trust everyone not to play ahead, which can not be restricted in any way beides someone making predictions about the game.

2) Perhaps you think it can be prevented? How? Show me a fullproof way to prevent this and we'll give everyone a save game.

3) We can tell if someone played ahead before they tell us bad information, hence before ruining the game (at least for a while). Again show me a fullproof way to enforce this and I'll shut up.

Wellp that pandora's box is open now. It doesnt take much to figure out you can play again then turn into the sage on Apolytonia. It actually might be hard to not play ahead given the natural inclination to 'do stuff' in a sid meier game.

hi ,

how can one play ahead , with the exact same moves , ....

and even if they can , so be it , sjee , relax , let them , pffff , if people really want to do that so what , afterall is just a game , on how one plays that game , that viewpoint is different in all of us , ......

BTW , there original reason for this thread is based on a misunderstanding , ......
so , there fore the Q at top of the poll and the whole original talking about playing ahead is different then what it say's now , off course no-one wants to play ahead , ....but that is not why and how this thread was born , ......

and why are there so many people , who scream about spoil's , when they themselves to that in a game , ....

the whole idea about the so called "playing ahead" is once again way out of its intended context , ...

maybe in the future some people might let finish other people there words and messages , before jumping to conclusion's ,....

have a nice day

Youre right they cant make the same exact moves. BUT They can reveal things about the map that we wouldnt otherwise know. It may be fun for you to cheat, but we like our serious games.
