After 500 years, no neighbors have been found yet. That makes my job easier .

Im currently trying to set up an MPP of some kind with a couple of Banana's I found in the jungle, but they want Ceremonial burial. I advise we take these banana's seriously!

After 800 years, we have FINNALY found a neighbor.

The French are Cautious towards us. They also have a tech lead. While we only have one tech they do not have (Ceremonial burial)
they have two techs we do not have (bronze working and alphabet)

They are also quite much more richer than us. They have 45 gold, while we have 12.

From the diplomacy talks (or the F4 screen, the diplomacy screen), we have divulged that France only has its capitol still, without a second city to boast for.

From the initial talks we set up with Supreme Lady Joan d'Arc, we hammered out a reasoning that we could not possibly afford to trade for the Alphabet tech they have, so we will continue along with our primitive grunts for now.

However, Joan d'Arc was able to relate to us that, if we were to teach her the divine teachings of ceremonial burial, she would in turn pay us back with the lessons of Bronze Working and a payment of 9 gold.

Upon consulting our neihborhood science guy, Tassadar, we were able to conclude that to trade for Bronze working would be wasteful, because Tassadar is pretty sure he's gonna be able to figure out how to make bronze in a couple of years anyways (8 turns). That and the ammount of gold is a joke. Also, Tassadar considered ceremonial too vital to give away so easily

Upon more discussion with Joan, we discovered a trade for 45 gold with ceremonial burial would be acceptable to her. However, upon immediate thought, the deal was not worth it, mostly because 45 gold is nothing, and once again, ceremonial burial seems to be held dear.

Although i was less concerned with a few minor details, and was flirting with Madamne Arc, my secretary later informed me of the following details.

1: The French fear our warriors
2: L'armée de France is bigger than the glorious armies of Apolytonia
3. The French are more technologically advanced than us (by one tech, as I have noted)
4. The French are unimpressed with our culture (BAH! have you seen the movies they make?)
5. The best unit L'armée de France can boast is the Warrior

from this, we can deduct that we must censor more French culture from our people, for the sake of the empire. Also, we can deduct that L'armée de France is composed of wussy warriors, as compared to the mighty soldiers of Apolytonia.

This is all I have to report for the year of 3300 B.C.

Great report Ninot. Maybe consult with Tassadar on the possibility of trading ceremonial burial for alphabet and maybe more?

We tried to work it out, but the French don't want the deal. They are keeping Alphabet to themselves for now.

Problem is, they are either researching Ceremonial anyways, or they just value they'r precious "letters" too much to trade away.

We need more bargaining power if we want Alphabet threw trade.

I believe that our bargaining position will increase dramatically when we begin roasting Joan over an open fire.

Well, that might be a bit dramatic, but you get the idea. We should prepare for war with France; after a victory or two, we should be able to wring some tech out of them at the piece table; maybe even some gold too.

8 gross, 1 lost to corruption, so 7 go to science.

7 x 8... hmmm, don't have math yet do we?... Consults with oracle...

OK. The gods have told me that BW will cost us 56 commerce to research. I'll bet Joan would sell it to us for less.

Hmmm. We would have more in the bank soon if we set research to 10%.

*gag* too low! If you're gonna lower research, not so much! If I was weird, that might almost possibly have a slight chance of maybe offending me, perhaps!

Do you know that tech is cheaper to buy than to research at this level?

/Edit. In general.

Oh...No, I'm still stuck on Chieftan. Go ahead, laugh. I suck at Civ3. SMACX, I could get to level 2, and almost 3. But Civ3, nope.

this is a comment more for the resident finance minister than me.
I tried everything in my power to get something traded with what we currently have (science at something like 80-100%), but either Joan wouldnt agree, or a minister felt we could do better.

I just talk to Joan, I don't set the sliders.

Panag : as the minister of trade, I strongly oppose the idea to give her one gp sometimes... The efficient gifts are done in gold per turn, and the state of our treasury doesn't allow us to do so. One gold sometimes would just be wasted money.
