So that I hold to all of the ideals of a voting bloc , I would like for the members of the UFC to tell me what they would like my platform to be (regarding my candidacy for Imperial Expansion Minister).

Though I tend to be a builder, I agree that we need to contain French expansion through military or cultural/good city placement. It should be our first priority to ensure rapid expansion.

You're right, though; DIA is old news.

the DIA is a party that showed up way too early.

after the initial war(s) with france etc, after we have secured a decently sized empire, many people may switch from being a warmonger to being a builder. I, however, wont.

i suspect the DIA won't get a lot of support now, but it will in the middle to late game.

So, we have 18 members, 3 of which hold office, while DIA has 13 members, 5 of which hold office. I think our prospects of winning the two vacant office seats look good.

With the coming elections, we'll be able to take at least two, and likely three ministry posts. We already control the Army and the Presidency, and soon we will control all of the workers and settlers (IE can control City Planner and PW) the succession (VP), and likely tax/sci/lux rates etc. as well (Finance). The DIA's power will be short-lived.

LOL Skywalker, you crack me up.

Besides, Eli controls the workers, punkbass in independent and won't join you, VP should not be thought of a position to take control. This already shows we need a moderate VP to balance things out, you people will just use it as a tool for your party.

You act like you have already won IE and VP, you shouldn't be so arrogant, agh.

IE can control the rest of the CTED. Moreover, I can dissolve the CTED, getting rid of that DIA bastion (after breaching the walls with my election), and set up a MIC - Military/Expansion Coucil.

I'm thinking either Mysticism or Wheel. Mysticism would be better now, I think. We wont have any Iron, and we'll be using archers against the French, so no Iron Working. I'm betting that France will get it, however. Hope they dont have Iron...

I agree on Mysticism, as it's a tech we can likely trade and it leads us to Monarchy.

I would have said The Wheel, as I'm still hoping we can pull a GA out of our war with France (and before our UUs become obsolete), but I've become rather pessimistic about our chances of finding horses, and now that the plan is to build our next two cities near the capital, I can't see us getting any chariots out of the swamp any time soon. Sadly, Chariots will have to wait, as will my dream of becoming a chariot riding archerer.

Plus, The Wheel is easy to buy/trade for. Let us hope that we will one day have War Chariots and that I may find glory on the battlefield storming through the crumbling ranks of the enemy, bow in hand!

Elections
Seems like we were a bit overconfident in the strength of our numbers.

We have more members than the opposing party, but the nation's total membership far surpasses the members of our two parties. For some reason, the people-at-large seem to be chosing the DIA candidates.

If we do indeed lose, then we ought to think over why we lost these elections. Was it merely that our candidates were not as well liked as their opponents, or is there a PR problem with the coalition that needs to be addressed.

Seems to me that most people are in favor of our more militeristic agenda. I had expected that we'd have problems later on in the game when warfare isn't as popular as it is now.

Your thoughts?

Yes, I think there was some PR damage done. Especially in the IE minister race.

From what I can gather, skywalker annoyed some people in a turn chat. I am unable to attend these and do not know how.

This could lead to lasting damage, perhaps. We need to all take the time to sit and remember that what we say, now reflects on the entire group.

Being polite does not mean we are not still warriors at heart.

Well, Skywalker's spamming did to a good deal of damage but there are other reason we lost.

1. The DIA candidates were better qualified. Jonny was the deputy IE and Timeline had already built trust and rep in the IE office.

2. Our philosophy of throwing caution to the wind might have scared some people off. (i still like our attitude though)

3. Nowhere in any of our party platforms does it say anything about listening to the people or supporting democracy. I think we should respond to this but in a different fashion than DIA. Mabye more fascistic. Project onto the masses!
