OFFICAL: IE - Where Should We Build Our New Cities?
I've looked at our current position, and I've come up with three possible places we could settle. Here's a map:

Description of City Sites:
1. Both these tiles are jungle squares, bordering both the ocean and the river.

2. An open square (thankfully), near other open squares and jungle. Near where we met the French warrior - could be a good place to build up our military before an invasion of France.

3. Not actually discovered yet, probably in the jungle, possibly on river. Centralized location.

Poll Info

Question: Where should we build new cities?

Options: Build/Don't Build option for each site.

Expiration: 3 Days

Important Note: This poll will not end before the next turnchat. We don't have any settlers and aren't building any, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Oh, BTW, the red tiles are where Uber wants to build a road to France. (I think so, anyway.) Just disregard them for this poll.

Also, the French might colonize site 2 before we can. It's 9 moves, plus however long it takes to BUILD the settler.

after we explore more, we might definately be able to settle there... we just have to see.

Site 1 is a great site. infact, clear the jungle and build roads there... and then some.

site 3 is another "crappy ass jungle city that is worthless until 50 turns pass", but it will be a good location in the future. The lower squares you circled would probably be a bad choice in that the X will overlap 2 squares deep (6 total squares) with site 1.

i voted YES for all 3.

In order to run for VP, Timeline needed to resign as IE advisor. As deputy IE advisor, Jonny is currently occupying the position, pending the emergency election.

Jonny-- I voted for 1 and 2, and against 3. And the road idea also looks good. Then again, France may not exist much longer.

I'm a CTED "minion" that agrees with Uber's idea. We can use it to go conquer them, and after we do that, we can use their luxuries that they definitely have.

btw Jonny, site 2 is flawed.

Cities automatically clear jungle when they are founded so the best place to put em is NEXT to the grassland on the Jungle. That is, one tile east or north east of where you have site 2 now.

I'm not sure if I agree with Site 2. We haven't yet explored much to the west, after Sunday's turnchat we'll know much more than we do now about the terrain to our west.

Site 1 is closer and on the coast. Site 2 is too far away for now. It would put us longer in settling that city. Site 3 is at least partly, if not all in a Jungle, size would be more limited.

People, Jonny, this is where our next city should go:

Spot 4......

(True, it's not on the river, but it gives us a nice grassland spot to work off of, which will make it useful quickly.)

In that case, I change my answer to Spot 5, which is in between spot 1 and 4 on the coast. Spot 4 is to close to the capitol, and spot 5 would still give us the grassland tile.

Spot 5 would also allow us to build a city fairly quick once we do get a settler since it is close to a road. Finishing a road wouldn't take long either.

Timeline is correct. It is the only productive site.

It can share the grasslands with Apolyton until some jungle can be cleared.

The reason I recommended spot 5 is you get more workable better land since the city auto clears that one jungle spot, and you get a bigger border since the game usually would add the extra space that close to the capitol. Also, you wouldn't infringe on the capitol super x as much there.

The other spot you mentioned is good too. Again you would clear a jungle space and keep a grassland space.

Alright then. Spot 5, then one to the right of spot 2.

As for spot 3... I'd rather settle somewhere I can see.

Yea, spot five is not bad kring, nice 1........

Just to play devils advocate here for a sec: The only thing I see wrong with spot five is that is is too close to the river, yet not on it. So it would mess up our city grid down the road if we wanted to settle on the river. (not a big deal but just pointing it out)

Ok here is what I now suggest as an alternative to spot 5.... spot 6.....

Trades the coast for the river, it still grabs the grassland tile with its border. It also fits in with a city grid much better.

Spot 5 and 6 are mediocre and both give access to only 1 grassland, not even shielded.

If we do not get one more productive (at least 3 tiles to work) city very soon, this game is most likely already lost. There's nothing as bad as a bad game start. Take in account, that the settler is already delayed by the decision to build a worker in Apolyton.

The city should be built either southeast or east of 5.

This poll is invalid, or at least unofficial. You have not been elected Imperial Expansion Minister yet.

He is acting as it to fill the role temporairly (see previous posts and code of laws). In any case, it is invalid anyway IMHO because of all the new options now emerging...it needs to be repolled with them

If 6 was uncovered better, I could consider voting 6, but I would want to know what is around it more.

here, look.

Red tiles are jungles on the border of the unexplored area.

i have set it up so that the blue tiles ONLY color non-black pixels, so that you can see any hint of color / shapes in vibrant blue.

the blue reveals that many of these tiles will be jungle.

( man i sure am bored today, )
