Players who use CAPS for city names
I hate that. It ruins the aesthetics of the map.

Another one is people who use KC during my turn. When they do it in their turn I think sometimes it could be a cheat because you can't see the map.

What are your pet hates of other players habits?

Hydey downloading porn while he's hosting. I'm sure that's why my game keeps jamming on the AI turn.

Why can't you see the map?

You can easily hide it behind your map displays, I often do this with chatty players.

Many years ago when we were playing 2 on 2 games, it was a common tactic to have one team member time a king chat to coincide with the other team member moving units up to an enemy city. It usually provided enough distraction that the opponent couldn't be sure what was moved up in the stack. This was before people started to change how their windows were layed out.

I remember in one game, I ran into a players settler early in the game. It was on a forest square, so I wasn't sure if my horse could take it out... so I sent a message telling him if he agreed to back off I wouldn't kill it. After a minute or so of no response I killed it.

Seconds later, I got the traditional "screw you" message. I then sent back the traditional "if you had agreeed to back off, I wouldn't have killed it" message.

Well... needless say, he never saw the message because he had hidden his KC screen

When the game first came out, we didn't really think of that. The KC was the coolest part of MP when it first came out. The chatting was almost more fun then the game. (especially when you were playing with Ming, Xin Yu and MWHC)

Yin Yu would be saying, "if you point the cursur....and press ctrl alt windows"

MWHC would be saying "you're F***ing toast Rich"

Ming would be saying "THIS BLOOWWWWWS"

I hate it when you spend a lot of time setting up a game, and then somebody will get off to a bad start, and then "remember" that they had a previous engagement WIMPS!

I hate 'accidental' disconnects so that unit and city info can be gleaned.

And that's probably not the only thing that is being gleaned...

One of the reasons why we prefer to play with people we know and trust. If Berz disconnects, we know it's just his crappy connection

I fairly much hate KC, and would mute all; but many times I can pick up good info when some nimrod copies me accidently.

I love it when they realize they've done it and then try to cover it up. The followups are usually very very lame.

On restarts, it's always fun to see that a person is skimping on defense. (more cities than units) And they know everyone now knows it.

If you're defending with 2 or 3 and you have units out exploring, your city to unit ratio won't look so bad.

Yes, for a no defense unit, they defend quite well. I remember having a vet successfully defend (in a city behind a wall) against a "supposed vet" crusader.

And forget attacking one on good terrain without full movement left. It's amazing how many horses that I've lost attacking at 2/3.

I don't use CAPS anymore. finbar beat me into submission

I use to like it because, being color blind, I could more easily identify my cities.... LOL
