Intermediary Turn: Wednesday, July 3rd, 2100 GMT (4pm EST)
The turn chat went well today. We only played one turn and that took us to the year 2430.

The French have discovered the Wheel, and are willing to trade it to us for 30 gold and 3 gpt. Their price for Alphabet has reduced to 36 gold and 3 gpt.

Astounding land has been spotted north of Washington, at least 5 flood plains and a river, one wheat tile was also sighted.

Turn Log:

Turn 32, 2470

New warrior (warrior 5) built in Banana HQ, Fortifies
Production in Banana HQ changed to settler
Entertainer in Apolyton changed to Scientist
Slider increased to 100% tax
French Warrior moves North, spots Greece's border
Coastal warrior moves north east, finds more jungle
American warrior moves north, and sees a mountain in Washington's city limit

Turn 33, 2430

Franch warrior moves north east, spots plains and one tile of wheat in greece's territory
American warrior moves north east, sees a beautiful river in America's teritory, north of Washington. Also spots a tile of wheat and 5 tiles of flood plains.
Coastal warrior moves north, onto mountain, and finds 3 more dye tiles, and endless jungle to the east

Excellent news re the Wheel. I recommend we keep our powder dry (money in the bank). Soon the Greeks and Iroquois will have it and the price will be cheaper still.

I think this pretty much seals the argument over which way to expand, no?

We do really need to see what lay East of Paris. For all we know there may be grasslands and hills. Perfect terrain. Unfortunately we do not know as of yet.

However, I do agree that all signs point towards the Americans right now.

Two other reasons to elect America as the candidate for attack are:
1. France is a peacefull nation (until they get Musketeers, that is)
2. France seems not to be in a very good spot either and are close to the Greeks which they may get at war with.

But...., let us first investigate the map a bit further. Are we sure that the "center" is all jungle or could it be there is some nice land next to a river hidden there? Probably not, but perhaps we should make sure?

America is the main target at the moment and France should really be a secondary option, maybe after the war with america and way before they can get their hands on the Musketeers.

I dont really think that there is any good land, the jungle is too harsh for an empire to thrive and America seems to have the best lands in our area, we need to prepare for war and scout around the American borders as well as trying to expand to gain some sort of a productive city (very unlikely, I know )

Nice point, Will. While I agree with the consensus pointing our archers north, we need to factor in the eventual (and very likely) necessity of moving against France (assuming the Greeks don't) well before they secure gunpowder/musketeers.
Just some long range thinking.
