I understand . . . I hated that as well at first but am so used to it that I hardly recall the colors that are usually assigned the factions..

There is a fix apparently -- If before playing you load a game with the factions in the "right" places-- the correct colors will carry over-- Its a little too cumbersome for me .

Someone (Darius, I believe) posted instructions how to write a batch program that assigned the correct factions upon loading for every PBEM he is in - that eliminates the incorrect faction graphics.

If I could remember the thread (I think it was in one of the game turns) I'd bump it

In the game parameters, as well as the original post to this thread, it called for SMAC.

smhfan86 is correct, I don't have SMAX...

I've been working on the game, but if you would prefer to have a CMN that can create something with SMAX, that's fine. After all it's your game to enjoy. I only wished to help you guys out.

The other players said they could go either way, therefore, we'll go SMAC as stated earlier.

Yeah, I heard about the fix. But I also heard it was rather tedious. Some people say you have to do something everytime before u play, but I think I heard someone say you only need to do it once.

Most of the heavy stuff is done. I'll be playtesting and tweaking it for the rest of the night. I'll be online for another hour or so...

Comstr had suggested a large map instead of a huge one, in order to meat faster.
smhfan86 suggested everbody get their own continent.
Also, there will not be any AI dudes to spread your comm. frequencies around.
The 'Momentum Style' factions ( Believers, Spartans, Hive ) are non existant.

Sooo...

With one scout patrol + two clony pods, no intermediary AI factions, all player 'Builder and/or Hybrid' type factions, and each having your own continent on a large map... don't be surprised if it takes a while before you meet someone else, eh ? Of course some of you may prefer it this way. If not, then you'd better find comm. freq.'s in a unity pod, otherwise...

Anyways, when I get up tommorrow, if there is no suggestion for a "name" to this game - I'll use my wonderous imagination and assign one.

Okay. Tested with everybody up to and including year 2165. I'm a builder at heart, and played them all in this manner. I have done well with all the factions respectively, playing them along their strengths. As always though, the unity pods can have a pronounced effect (either good and/or bad) in the very beginning. Another thing that if you already don't know, is that unity pods over special terrain enhancements that result in earthquakes - totally destroy that feature. So you've been warned... don't come crying if you get greedy and end up destroying the Uranium Flats!

I believe that we are now ready, as always, this required more work than anticipated. I'm not complaining, just stating facts. And I don't want anybody thanking me either! If you enjoy yourselves and have fun, thats all the recognition I need.
