i had to think this one though, but

O.T.
i guess it's impossible to show 16 civ's on the same screen.
That would probable be worse then Shift+right click. Unless they go for a completly different approach.
No idea as to how though?

Amen, bro!

I didn't read alva's before posting. Sorry, alva I don't agree. Yes, the advisor screen could well need reorganising, but surely you must agree that almost anything would be better than the present situation where you can only see relationships with 7 other civs.

IS POSSIBLE!!!

A table, one column for each kind of relationship and the other the civ list. At the top only appears the head of the selected civ showing how happy/unhappy is with you. Also you can use SHIFT and make a multiple selection of a maximum of X faces (where X is the amount that with a correct sytle the graphic designer can put )

Also in the cells could be some symbols, that "possible commerce" like now or "possible alliance" and "they awe your culture". Is by far better than press the "more" in the advisor and wait for him saying something about the desired civ.

And, I suggest, to include ALL the advisors in a diplomatic encounter. Each one shows the good/bad things to an offer or possible offer. Why the diplomatic shows me if they like culture and similar things? KICK OFF diplomatic advisor! Also showing some of them happy or unhappy we know more info about the offer.

The militar should include alliances/right of passage, the trade (TOTALLY USELESS) must show us possible trade treaties, culture (a *bit* useless) show me more things that "build the arts" (??) for example that if I made the leader happy I can culturally absorb cities (or he can absorb some mines), etc...

Finally, I believe, that the diplomatic advisor must be replaced for a diplomatic/spy when you have embassy/spies in the country. With the face changing is enough that a treaty is good or not. That's all

replace the Eye candy leaders faces with simple names of leader, civ, and a little bar showing how friendly they are to you! Stick a boarder round'em and that would do! And it does run in a high res, so it should all fit on nicely!

I've ben meaning to post about this for a while, but i recently had a delicit diplomatic situation with everybody at war with china cept me and a few others and i was struggling to keep track of all my agreements with all of the 11 other civs!

The current advisor screen is the reason why I only play with a maximum of 8 civs, no matter how big the map is. As Hazie said (apart from his dirty fantasy ), you are almost unable to keep track of all the relations if you are dealing with more than 8.

8 civs is pritty boring too! cuz you end up with 6 of them near each other, and 2 mega big ones on the other side of the world!
Or you end up with to little civs when the action begins to heat up!

I don't think we can expect a complete reworking of the FA screen, but maybe a small change wouldn't be too much to ask.

Why not simply add a list of Civs in the game, each one with a checkbox? You could check the ones you wanted to be displayed in the current manner.

Maybe the list could have some features indicated, table style. Or perhaps civs at war with you could be displayed in red in the list.

The current screen only supports 8 civs because Firaxis has them configured in a circle. If they moved them out to the edge in a more squareish (is that a word?) configuration they could make a fully functional version with 16 civs and NO change in graphics, size, or format. For more than 16 civs they would have to go to smaller leaderheads, WHICH the game already has.

Below are two of the graphics for Abe, the small square is the small Civopedia icon and the circle is a sample of one of the Foreign Advisor icons currently used on the Foreign Advisor Screen. All Firaxis would have to do is give Civ3 a button to allow the player to switch to a small icon format (and they'd have to make an optional screen and the relationship lines) if they wanted to view more than 16 civs.
