Question Regarding Research Rates
Is there anyway to increase research rates? It seems that it slows down in the industrial age so in my last game as Persia, I didn't research the modern age until the later 20th century. Is there also a way to slow down the passage of time? Games seem to go by fast for me.

have less troops (and therefore more disposable income), more research facilities in cities, play with the science/tax slider, and trade more. Get into Democracy as soon as possible while not at war. Get bigger cities, build more roads for more income.

Other than that, you can also use the editor to change the number of beakers that the techs require.

You should also check out the tech rate which can be found on the World Sizes tab of the Rules editor.

Increasing it will definitely increase the overall rate of technology research, and it's a lot easier than messing with the costs of every tech.

Yah, what he said.

I never touch the editor, so I have no idea how to really use it, just know some things about it. Just threw it in because some people like to mess with their game to make it easier.

Don't you mean DECREASE? Decreasing the tech rate with the editor decreases the number of beakers of research needed so the techs themselves come more quickly.

I figure that the tech rate found in the editor is too high (tech comes too slowly) for the smaller maps and the the tech rate is too high (tech comes to quickly) on the larger maps compared to the standard map.

The easiest way to speed up the tech rate without using the editor is to play on a larger map.
