Building/Iprovement "air strength" & newly functional SAM & why no
Have had the fortune not have been bombed much so was unaware that SAM was not functional till 1.29. That said, had given a number of other buildings a lower "air strength" rating than the SAM - factory, harbor, nuke plant - basic high value things that could be reasonably expected to have "flak" protection before and separate (AAA) from the SAM battery.

Am curious: has anybody tried this and if so what happens in 1.29?

Does each "AA" capable building get a shot at each attacking aircraft or does the game crash?

Am dissappointed that this "air strength" hasn't (probably won't in PTW either?) been added in 1.29, at least as an editor option, to units - would simply solve the AA question once and for all - unless this would cause crashes if multiple AA capable units were in the same square, similar to question above.

At present its a bit silly isn't it to have an AEGIS cruiser that can't shoot at aircraft when its whole purpose in real life is to deal with aircraft primarily (might as well be called "modern naval ship" as is)?

Now don't go complaining about the reality factor. That's a VERY old subject.
If you don't like the cruiser's lack of Civ II qualities, then increase its defense strength using the Editor so it takes the brunt of the attacks.

My mods are described in the 1-page MS Word document below:

I'm afraid that I have the same complaint, and it's about play balance, not realism! At the moment, air units are simply TOO POWERFUL, even with only non-lethal bombardment!! There should be some kind of Anti-Air flag which you can put on a unit, so that it gets increased defence against air-units AND a bombardment rate and strength against air units!!

Jaybe:
Have modified mine too.

I reserve my right to ***** on this because its such a basic omission, especially when the buildings were given an air strength - like writing half a sentence.

Aussie Lurker:
Are you the same AL as on STW forums? If so greetings and good day .
