Kloreep - that was me who voted for skywalker. As I doubt it will come down to a tie, no big deal. However, you are correct in sugesting that there should be some formality we can impliment (without MarkG or DanQ getting involved) to regulate this so it doesn't become abused.

I'm all for an amendment that fixes up polls, especially one clarifying A) what official polls can be about, and B) what's official and what's not. I agree that making you label a poll if it's unofficial is stupid -- a poll should be assumed to be unofficial unless it meets the requirements of an official poll, one of which is to declare itself official.

Vote by post is also a good idea, and should def. be implimented to make up for technical issues...

Reading again this thread, I see that the difficulty to find an agreement on whether the polls are binding or not binding comes from the fact that we don’t classify the polls according to their content but according other criteria (official or not, binding or not) in connexion with the way they should be applied. It would be easier to classify the polls as follows :
- either the people is asked to approve a new law, or an amendment to an existing law, and also in case of elections, and the result of the poll is binding ;
- or, the government, in his executive duties, although he has power to decide such or such action, choose to ask the people what he would prefer ; of course, if the government has no particular inclination for one solution or the other, one could ask why he would not apply the solution preferred by the people, but as it has already been described at length, the situation can change, or becomes sticky, unexpected events happens, etc.

So, it seems that there should no longer be room for discussion if there were three possible polls :
- election polls (binding)
- legislative polls (binding)
- executive polls (not binding)

hi ,

maybe we should let the court make the polls , the people or officials should ask them about a subject and they would make it and place it , ...

and we should let certain polls open longer , polls about the col and so , ....

have a nice one
