GePap, might I suggest that you also keep track of trends in global wealth. Should be interesting and helpful, especially when making trade plans.

The main trend in glkobal wealth, as far as states having cash on hand, is down. Not a single civ had more than 100 gold stashed away, something that was never true before. I think our cash will become a more valued comodity as time goes on.
