Trading Strategic REsources
I can trade luxury resources with other civilizations but it won't allow me to trade any strategic ones. I have like five extra horse resources but I can't find them in the diplomatic trade screen. what am i doing wrong?

Perhaps the other civ already has horses and does not need to trade for them.

That is most likely, horses seem to be a lot more common than anything else.

Yes that is it, you should only get a list of things that the AI can use and you have available. You can definitely trade resources such as Iron or Horses. One other possiblity is if they do not have the tech to use it.

if you play on large maps, it's difficult to find a civ that actually has any extra strategic resources.

At least any of the really useful ones..i have found

I've always read those messages more as saying, "Gee boss, we've got more horses than we can use in five centuries. Lets go find someone who'll take some of these stupid, smelly things."

At least, I've never seen it actually mention a particular civ in those messages.

Somthing to that effect.

The trade prompts come every third pass of the cursor over a leader when viewing the foreign advisor's trade screen and every third click on "more" when you are on the diplomacy screen.

half the time the 'helpful' assistant suggests you trade a resource that would allow a neighbouring AI to build its UU. erm Mr. Assistant, you trying to get me killed?

Yeah, they always want me to sell oil, rubber, and aluminum to a belligerent and poweful civ that has attacked me many a time, and just needs those to send MA's over the border.

he is plotting behind your back with the military advisor. You can afford to build a larger army, so why not build some tanks?

Your half right. The Military Advisor is one of those guys that think the last war wasn't over, and gets the foregn advisor to get you to trafe resources so that other civ can start another war.

At least, that's what the comment said by that block of code... right Firaxis?

If your enemy really wants some uranium why don't let them have it? If they pay well of course

I avoid trading resources... luxuries are one thing but not resources.
