The 2050 AD - Limit is ohnly for the Score.
If you havent´t won any Victory til this Date your Score is calculated and the Empire with the highest Score is declared winner.

After calculating the Score you can play on forever, as Flight already mentioned.

Well, theoretically there isalimit on the number of turns you can play before the game overfows. But that won't be reachable for you in your lifetime, but if you made the game pass on to other people when you can't play it more there would be a day when you couldn't play a single turn more.

Easy to calculate.

If they´ve taken a unsigned Short-Integer for the Turn-Number you can play til turn 65535
If they´ve taken an unsigned Long for Turn-Number you can play til Turn-Number 4294967295

That is as long as they didn´t introduce any artificial Limit

Cool, I've got enough books. But not enough lifespan for either.

Create a reply to any of the posts in this thread. At the bottom of the screen, below the text box where you type your reply, is a box to "Attach File." By hitting the "Choose" button you can browse to the Civ 3 save directory and select the appropriate file. Not much to it... Hope you post the file as I would like to take a look at it as well!

It's a long they are using. And add to that the turntime for each turn, so may you calculatye haw löong time a game would take. Remember as the game grows the turns will become longer...

Currently playing the Egyptians in year 2682 AD. (1.29F, no mods)

I have finally defeated the evil Persians after about 1500 years of warfare. (My French allies got the final blow, which annoyed me.)

Now I am building up and will defeat the evil French. Once I've destroyed them, I'll give up this game.

Isn't it a 'respawn AI player' in the options? Try to disband all cities but a few, pillage all improvements and withdraw to some remote place and wait for the AI to rise again

This is the question said someone in the past.......he was obviously reffering to Civ3 Conquest.

Will Conquest grant such a fantastic option like Civ3 ?

Please do not move this answer to Conquest forum, there I didn't understand too much about this fundamental feature.

Thanks

You want a sav? You got it.

Download (in ZIP format): http://www.simplicitus.com/civ3/2696.zip

Sorry, I played more and now I'm at 2696AD.

My next task is to build up my army and then invade France. I don't want to take over their cities, no. I want to methodically raze each of them to the ground and obliterate their entire civ. Once every last one of them is dead, I'll begin proper Egyptian cities and my glorious culture will be victorious.

If anyone has any tips on how to stage such a massive invasion in the SAV, I'd love to hear them!

Looks like you have been tossing around nukes. I see global warming and nukes have turned the whole world into a desert. I cracked up.
You could put a serious hurt on them if you get moving or had gotten moving a few turns earlier. They have a stretch of land that is not under their cultural borders on their land mass. I would drop a settler there and rush buy an airport. I would have airports by now everywhere so I could fly in MA's until I had 700 and started a sweep. I would raze as many cities as I could and put a big dent in their empire. At the same time, all cities would go back to producing MA's and nukes. I would be prepared to muster up a massive worker force to clean up any nukes that got me. I am betting I could do more damage to them, than they could to me and I could recover faster. I would not bother to make any new cities after a handful. I would want a few to prevent being cut of. I would not be too concerned about the rails, unclaimed rails are everyones rails.

The thing that surprised me the most was that I *never* used nukes until late in the game,

The AIs *all* went nuke happy early on and nuked each other stupid and turned the world into a desert.

The funny part is, since I figured the desert was more Egyptian in flavor than French., I was ok with it.

I didn't build any until very recently, I was more than happy to hide behind my SDI.

Yes, you can play further -- in couple games I kept playing because I won by culture (which was not satisfying), and I really wanted to see how a major inter-AI war on another continent would end.

No I can't. All civ games, if you play long enough will turn the world into deserts. (As gameplay time increases, the chances of AI's nuking each other approaches 100%.)

Once that happens, the very same turn you complete a forest, it instantly turns back into tundra due to global warming.

"Forest completed!" --> "Forest turns to Tundra due to Global Warming!"

And there isn't a damn thing you can do about it in an unmodded game, IIRC.
