I don't think there is a Play the World and a Play the World Multiplayer . . . but yeah, you'll need Civ3 and Play the World to play multiplayer, but I'm pretty sure you knew that already.
Though the new box is interesting, I just noticed it on some game site a couple of days ago.

The new box art is lame. We don't see much other than the 2 hands. WTF.
I look forward to play PTW, for free of course.

Yep, I noticed Darkworld!!
I also noticed the helicopters! Though it might not mean anything, one can hope that it means that there will be new Wonders and Units above and beyond the ones mentioned in the reviews!

I don't think they would put that on the cover unless PTW included helos and an Eiffel Tower GW. But what's that castle thing in the top right... another wonder ?

Not too crazy about the arms. Other than that, I suppose it looks fairly nice.

the new box art is fantastic. The arm wrestling is such a great metaphor for multiplayer.

The new art is fantastic and I find the box to the point for the historical evolution of the civs involved. I like both the hands AND the background, it's just we see too much helicopters since they are quite useless in the game yet ( we never saw choppers on SMAC's box , and they should have been there because THOSE ones were quite overpowered ).

I like the new art. My wife is horrified with the man's nails, though.
The old box was too bland and uninteresting.

does anyone suppose the new box art means the world map won't be included???
yeah, i just mentioned that because i was disapointed that they couldn't get that in the first game, but i'm looking forward to ptw.
box art looks kinda aoe though, don't ya think? i think the first one suited civ's subtle class more, like the civ 3 box.

There has been no mention of an Eiffel Tower Wonder in any of the press releases or interviews.

Hey that castle is that one by that . . . guy. I have a 3D puzzle downstairs but am too lazy to look. it's a pretty cool castle, built in 18th century (I think) and made to be a sort of fairy tale castle.
I think it's in Austria, or southern Germany.
I don't think that just because there is a picture there it's necessarily in the game, I've heard no mention of an Eifel tower. And there is already a helicopter.
