The Rivalry Continues
It has been about two years since I left SidGames, since Mark and Dan were rivals of mine.

Well, I'm back in the game.

I'm now a news guy at X-COM Tactical Command.

We aren't really rivals since Apolyton wouldn't cover this game, but we'd both cover general Firaxis related news.

No need for congratulations.

And this will be a friendly rivalry (if that), BTW. There will never be any IP banning of Mark and Dan like at the last site I was at.

That's cool Apoc. Congrats.

It would be better if the site loaded though. You mentioned Mark and Dan, you didn't mention me.

Nice, Apoc!

Anyway, that IP banning is more like an immature action to keep other site owners away. What's the catch? You can anyway get there by using a proxy server.

More like SimGolf coverage than Civ3 coverage though.

It didn't load? And when have we been rivals?

BTW, I didn't IP ban Mark and Dan...I didn't have authority.

i think he's implying that you didn't provide as much coverage of SimGolf as you did for Civ3. for instance, there is no sim golf forum on apolyton

H Tower, we never announced we would do a full coverage of simgolf....

this doesnt necessarily apply to all non-civ firaxis' games...

It is an assumption. This X-COM game will only cover a few years timespan at most. Every other game ACS covers is hundreds of years long.

You didn't cover Antietam! either. And you Alpha Centauri coverage is severly lacking, at least compared to a certain site that was around a couple years ago.

Ras, what's that Greek flag for?
I hear that the Greeks have banned computer gaming, so perhaps it's not appropriate for these forums.

You need to look at places on Apolyton other than the forum. The last news updates was "Greek Gamers Play On"

I don't see the connection. In that case nobody should use the Greek flag.

short answer: we did not have the ability, nor was that much interest in our visitors for an expansion pack of a game that was released before the creation of the site....

First, regarding SimGolf -- we will not be having full coverage of the game or a dedicated forum to it either. In addition, there will be no future "miscellaneous" updates for the game either.

It is not apart of our coverage now, nor will it be in the future.

Quote:
And you Alpha Centauri coverage is severly lacking, at least compared to a certain site that was around a couple years ago.
Apocalypse: there has not been much Alpha Centauri news recently. That said, as with any of our sections, if someone finds a news item pertaining to one of the games that we cover that we have not covered to that point, they are both welcomed and indeed encouraged to let us know about it.

Second: comparing our site now to our own site two years in this regard is not meaningful, let alone another site (and indeed, if I am following your inference correctly, one which also no longer exists).

Dan: I know there is no SMAC news recently. I am really just talking about Jan '99 through Aug '99.

Mark: I'll reply to you tommarow when I have more time.
