Deputy FM for Trade Preliminary Report for 310AD
This was originally a Private Report to Togas, and he wanted me to post it here. The verbage is directed to him.

If we are willing to negotiate Peace with Persia, we can currently get Theology, Engineering, WM & 9 Lytons (47 in tres). As we don't want to detour from our current course of conquest of the Persian Homeland, this isn't currently an option.

The SMC stated that the war will be essentially over within 10 turns. We also will be done researching Theology in 12 turns. I think that both the end of the war & Theology will be at about the same time.

I recommend that we wait to descuss Peace with Persia until after we have gotten Theology. The SMC posted that his forces have taken a bit more loses than he would like and needs a bit to rebuild for the final push. This could work to our advantage for getting Engineering and either Education or Invention, which the Persians would most likely have. We will have gotten 3 techs at about the same time this way.

There is also a French Settler in our Territory, do we want to Eject them?

That's it for now. A more detailed report to follow in a day.

Detailed CFM for Trade Report for 310 AD part 2 of 4
This was originally a Private Report to Togas, and he wanted me to post it here. The verbage is directed to him

Persia - We are currently at War with them. We don't have a trade route with them because of the war. They need the Resource of Horse. They have the Luxuries of Incense & Spice, but no surplus currently. They also need the Luxury of Dye.
They have 47 Lytons in their Treasury and the Techs: Engineering & Theology.
We can currently negotiate Peace with Persia for the following:
Engineering, Theology; WM & 9 Lytons from them.
They are most likely selling their surplus luxuies for Iron, Luxuries & Lytons to England & Germany.
My full recommendation for Persia will follow in my next report.

Attutudes towards us:
Furious - France, Germany & Persia.
Annoyed - Rome, America, Aztec, Iroquios, England, Russia & Babylon.
Cautious - Greece.
Polite - None.

If we try to buy Theology, how much would it be right now:
Rome - 596L; Greece - 556L; Aztec - 586L; Germany - 596L; England - 561L; Russia - 581L.
We can also do a combination of LPT & Lyton, but each LPT is equivalant to 18 Lytons.

My further recommendations will be in my next report to you.

Detailed CFM for Trade Report for 310 AD part 3 of 4
This was originally a Private Report to Togas, and he wanted me to post it here. The verbage is directed to him

This is the part 3 for 4 of the Final Report for 310 AD (darn PM size Limits).

There is some sentiment for Peace with Persia at this time. This is because of several factors:
1) Exhausted Troops;
2) Wanting Theology now for building Sistine Chapel with our GL;
3) the need to work on Infrustructure within our own Empire.
I think that we can get what we want and still continue the war.

Current Persian Trade is currently through Arbela via England. They are most likely tradeing their Incense and/or Spices to England for their surplus Wine. The Persians are also most likely trading with their Incense and/or Spices to Germany for their Iron. If we either take Arbela or cut the road between Arabela & Persepolis, it will do several things:
1) Reduce by two the number of Luxuries flowing into Persia. They will either have a turn of riots until they reassign population to entertainers (reducing overall production) or immediately reduce overall production in their cities. Even if they get a GA, their production will still be greatly hampered.
2) Stop the flow of Iron to Persia. They will not be able to build/upgrade anymore Immortals. So any that are present will be the only ones that we encounter, for now.
3) The additional effect of throwing a Banana into Both the German & English populations as they won't have the additional Luxuries from Persia to help them keep their people happy.

If the SMC needs a few turns to regroup his forces before trying to take anymore cities, he can quickly cut the road (in the forest just SE of the Mountian in Pasargadae's border) while he does that. My opinion, cutting the road should be the overriding priority! Even if we decide to get Peace now with Persia, we should cut the road just before we do (at just inside Arbela's boarder), it will still have the effects stated above. If we take Arbela, we can immediately sell the Spices (as soon as the road is built to our new Provencies) for cash, but that will be a few turns away.

Antioch - Has Iron close but they haven't connected to it and even if they send a worker to create a colony, they still won't be able to connect, because they have no direct route to it now. We'll need the extra Iron to see for Cash/Techs and possibly Saltpeter when we get Gunpowder. Priority is low for now, because we can't take immediate use of the Iron.

Bacta - Has Incense, but we have to go through Persepolis first. We can sell as soon as we take it.

Persepolis - What can we say about the Great Pyramids, but it will cause the Persians to move the capital, most likely to Tarsus as that's the bigest in the their current empire.

My overall Recommendation: continue the war but cut the Persian trade ASAP. We can currently limit ourselves to the above cities and still get what we want. If we decide to continue the War to it's conclusion, we should have Theology either on our own or through a tech trade with one of the other civs. That way, we can get Engineering and Possibly Education (if the Persians have it).

The rest will conclude next post,
E_T

Detailed CFM for Trade Report for 310 AD part 4 of 4
This was originally a Private Report to Togas, and he wanted me to post it here. The verbage is directed to him

This is the last, I promise

Civs building Sistine Chapel (600 sheilds before discount) that we know of:
Rome @ Rome, Size 8 city, likely Maximim Production of 11 Sheilds per turn (SPT);
Greece @ Sparta, Size 6 city, likely Max. Prod. of 7 SPT;
Germans @ Berlin; Size 10 city, likely Max. Prod. of 11-14 SPT (would be greatly impacted by cut in Persian trade);
English @ Nottingham Size 6 city, likely Max. Prod. of 9 SPT (would be greatly impacted by cut in Persian trade);
Russia @ Moscow, Size 8, Likely Max. Prod. of 11 SPT.

Do we have any Idea when they started building and what's the % discount that they get on Items at Monarch? This will give us the advantage of predicting if they will get it within the next 12 turns. We can always take it, too. We don't currently have any Cathedrals to take advantage of it anyways and not for quite a while. Copernicus's Observatory would be better in the tech race, but that's still aways away.

We need the President to have the Wonder Initiation Pop-up setting to be set in the game preferences, so that we're aware of these things. It's currently not on.

THe Aztecs have the Lighthouse, they need to be watched very carfully during turnchat, as they might contact the other civs soon. We need to see what we can have for contact trade if and when we need to buy it.

I think that's it, unless you want to eject the French settler that's within our borders.

Update from 380 AD
Our armies continue to have success in the Persian campaign, but we are now taking losses due to a recently discovered pact the Persian made with the Germans to provide them with iron. We cut the trade route between these two nations, but several pikemen and immortals were created which our army now has to account for. It should be noted that, in the process, we also cut a trade route for trade between Persia and England.

We won a major battle, taking the capital of Persia and their Pyramids.

Persia's peace offers have improved, but they still will not pay "everything" they have for peace. We will check in coming turns, but we have no plans to make peace with Persia until their "homeland" has been entirely captured.

The Iriquois beat us to Theology. Babylon also beat us to it, and they were the ones who we eventually bought the knowledge from for a discount after we taught them Chivalry. The Babylonians have opened a trade route with us, and we decided to exchange dyes with them, as they had a better offer than the Greeks.

The Greeks want our dyes, and are willing to sell us Engineering at an alarmingly good discount.

There are other nations who will soon establish trade routes with us. It is in our best interest to link as many dyes as possible, so that we may provide them to the world.

We have taken the Iriquois off our Charity List as they have shown that they no longer need our help.

Rome started building Leonardo's Workshop before we built the Sistine Chappel. Other nations have followed now that the Sistine Chappel has been finished.

Settlers continue to scuffle about looking for possible settlement sites. But there is little other world news. The Aztecs wars continue.

(edit to reflect new Greek trade opportunity)

Foreign Affairs Report, 440 BC
We are nearing the close of the Persian campaign and the aquisition of new knowledge and luxuries. We have already begun to trade our newly found incense to the Germans. The Romans also are willing to pay 6gpt, 60g, and WM (as of 440ad) for the other.

We will learn Education and Invention from our Persian nemesis upon the close of the war, but those techs are rapidly becoming outdated. Even now the Romans, Greeks, Germans, English, and even the Persians are trying to build JS Bach's Cathedral.

We have no idea what techs beyond Education the Persians have, all we know is that they posess Music Theory. The Ministry is currently working out options for us to aquire Education, which could lead us to learn Banking, Astronomy, or the dead-end tech of Music Theory (which would be a dissapointment, to say the least).

Currently the Greeks will sell us Education for incense, 102g and 20gpt.

The Ministry urges the City Planner to rush build temples in either Bacteria or Susa so that we can culturally link the incense between the cities. Alternatively, we could build a temporary colony to make this luxury available for sale.

One more event that deserves considerable discussion: The Aztec nation has captured Washington. Chicago, Boston, and New York are not far behind.

Every turn we delay may be another lost city. We need to immediately address this issue and send troops into the Americas to seize what remains, and then culturally attempt to capture the rest later.

The Aztecs are willing to let us share in the spoils. In fact, they will pay us 23g and their WM if we join them against America.

The Ministry urges the nation to quickly decide this issue. We authorize a declaration of war against America, and we recommend an alliance with the Aztecs as a part of that war.

DFM for Trade 440 AD Report
Here is the 440 AD Intelligence & Trade Chart:

I found one thing that was not reported in the turnchat, England also started JSB in 430AD at Nottingham. JSB is 600 Sheilds (480 d\other Civ discounted). So JSB is being built at the following:

Rome - Rome - started in 430 AD
Started at Size 10, now size 10; Prod 11-13, 37-44 Turns total at this time.

Greece - Rhodes - started in 430 AD
started at size 2, now size 2; Prod 2-4, 120-240 Turns total at this time.

Germany - Hamburg - started in 420 AD (actually as Copernigus in 380, then switched in 420)
Started at size 6, now size 6; Prod 6-8, 60-80 Turns total at this time.

England - Nottingham - started in 430 AD
Started at size 6, now size 6; Prod 7-9, 54-69 Turns total at this time.

Persia - Arbella --- Will be ours in a few turns, so not of notice.

Our Maximum Production is currently 7, which would take 86 Turns to complete if we started now. Rome looks like the big winner for JSB, unless something upsets their apple cart. We should get Music Theory from the Persians (after buying Education from the Greeks) and should be a consideration if we get anouthe GL.

Persia has re-established their trade with Germany and England for German Iron & English Wines. They might have gotten Music Theory from the English also, as they started JSB right after they had gotten their trade back (the Palace moved). We might still see a few more Immortals before we are through with them.

We can either get the following from Persia:
1) 2 Techs, WM & money
2) 1 Tech, 1 City, WM & money
The two techs are the best option, as we don't have the infrastructure currently to support any serious Technology Research. They do not have the cash flow to support any LPT so we would only get their cash that's on hand. THey might offer us better terms after we take Arbela, but it's doubtful.

[EDIT] Because Germany has been known to have had Astronomy (6 turns), it's very consevable that they will have sold it to Rome, Greece, England, Russia & Persia, as these are the Civ's who are capable of getting this Tech. until we know for certain, we need to watch these Civ's maps, to try forstall them selling any possible contact with the mistary civs before we can try to cash in on it. Aztecs also have the Lighthouse, but they don't seem to be doing any exploring. Germany is completely landlocked. And, of course, Persia's a bit occupied.

That's it for now. If I have further Information, I'll try to post it before then next turnchat.

DFM for Trade Report for 490 AD
I had problems with getting the chart to work correctly, but here it is:

We aquired 3 Technologies through negotiations, 2 from Persia as part of our Peace Terms and 1 from England for peace and Spices. The next Technologies will be a lot more expensive.
Germany, Rome & Greece all have Astronomy, whereas Only Rome and Germany have Gunpowder. It is unknown at this time, whether either of them have Saltpeter available.

We can buy Gunpowder for the following:
Germany - 1042 Lytons
Rome - 1033 Lytons

We can buy Astronomy for the following:
Germany - 1170 Lytons
Rome - 1141 Lytons
Greece - 1102 Lytons

We have 2 technologies that some of the other Civs don't have (Education, Invention & Music Theory), but they are very BROKE. We might be better off waiting to sell them.

There was some discussion of buying Gunpowder from Rome and Selling it to Greece for Astronomy, but it would still leave our nation economically crippled, especially when we are ready to enter a Great Age and change to a Republican Government. Also, we'll need the money to Upgrade Units to Musketmen (60 Lytons per Pikeman, 80 per Spearman).

We can try to do a couple of things while we get our city infrastructure built up:

1) Try to get Printing Press Before either Rome or Germany does. We can then trade it for Gunpowder at a significant discount. Then we can hopefully trade it with Greece for Astronomy.

2) Figure the Aztec getting Gunpowder soon, they are Militaristic and have had Invention for a while. We could trading them Education for it. Then we can hopefully trade it with Greece for Astronomy.

3) Rome, Greece & the Aztecs are exploring the seas and might find the other Civs soon. We have no Idea what level of development they are at, but it should be close to where we are. We might get the tech that we want from them.

England might also soon aquire Astronomy from their own research or through a trade. We need to closely watch these four and make efforts to purchase their WM's, at least once every 5 turns. There is a sea channel just East of Warwick that might lead to the lost Civs. Currently, WM are from 1-3 Lytons, but will go up as new territory is discovered.

We have only one Galley remaining and it's stuck at Uber Island. We could at least explore the rest of the surrounding waters off of Uber to see if we find anything of interest while waiting for Astronomy.

The Aztecs have an Army, consiting of 1 Elite Horseman & 2 Veteran Horsemen. It was spotted close to Boston, but the SMC's forces will beat them to the last of the American Spoils. We still need to Sell America a 'Useless Tech' before we Annex the last of their lands. We can also get the Aztecs to Ally with us against America, while paying us too.

We are at Peace with Persia and They are waisting their time building JSB at Sardis. It will not be suprising if the Aztecs or Germans decide to finish them off soon.

As for JSB, I'll post this part of my report sometime tomorrow, as getting the chart up took me a lot longer than I thought. It's safe to say that they are 5 turns further along than last report and that Rome will still get it.

490AD Wonder Race Info
Well, two more contenders have entered the Race for the JSB Wonder. They are Russia at Moscow and Persia at Sardis. Here is a new list to show you where they are at right now. This list doesn't allow for any Waste or Specialist in it's calculations.

Here it is

Rome is still the number one contender. Russia needs Spices, we don't know about Ivory, so they might have some specialist (redusing production) and they are close to one of their other cities and will most likely be sharing production tiles. Persia's an afterthought, but I included it in the list.

DFM for Trade Report for 530 AD
Here is the Report for 530 AD:

We are prepairing for War with France and letting our Trade agreements laps as they come due. We will be changing to Republic soon.

We have a few Technologies that we can Sell, but the Civs that don't have them can't pay for the in anything else but cash on hand and their treasuries are very low. We can hope that THe Aztecs or France Aquire Gunpowder, because we can trade Education to them for it.

Of the 4 Technologies that we can possibly get through research at this stage, only Printing Press is not possed by anyone. We are currently researching it at the minimum rate and need to step up our research and get it before the others, so that we'll have something to trade them for their techs.

We can buy the following technologies for the following (in Lytons):
Gunpowder: Rome - 871; Greece - 841; Germany - 893; England - 841 & Russia - 878.
Astronomy: Rome - 1067; Greece - 1030; Germany - 1094 & England - 1030.
Banking: Rome - 1044; Germany - 1071 & England - 1008.
Buying the Tecnologies is not an option, except with crippling our Economy. 18 Lytons Cash = 1 LPT.

The status on the Wonders being built is Here:

Rome is still in the lead and the other civs will most likely have Econmics before Rome is finished with JSB.

We need to buy WM's from Rome, Greece, England & The Aztecs in 570 AD (should have once per turnchat session) to see where they have explored the Seas in the 5 turns from the last WM buy. Last time was for 14 Lytons total between the 4 Civs. England will most likely be the ones to contact the Lost Civs first, because of the Shallow water passage to the East of Warwick.

We have Trade Renegotiations Due in 560AD with Rome, Greece & Babylon for Dyes. We would not get much of a discount if we tried to couple the Dyes with a tech purchace.

Germany is Furious with us and we took a reputation hit with all of the Civs when we eliminated America. We might want to explore Getting Germany to declare War against us, as while we're in Republic, we'll have 5 turns Increased Happieness, then 5 turns status Quo, the War weariness starts to take it's toll.

THat's it for now, If I have any other information that needs to be addresses, I'll post a Followup.

There are a few things that aren't on the chart, because they are very involved.

After doing a lot of investigation I have found out:

Ivory is the same price with either Rome or Greece: 510 Lytons (28 Lpt & 6L). No discount for likeing us better.

Rome will pay us 240 Lytons for Dyes (as part of a deal). Germany will pay us 119L for dyes by itself or 140L as part of a deal.
Greece has Dyes coming up for renegotiation next turn. They should be valueing it for somewhere in between.

Cost for Techs (without dyes):
Rome: Gunpowder - 871; Astronomy - 1068; Banking - 988
Greece: Gunpowder - 841; Astronomy - 1030; Banking - 954
Germany: Gunpowder - 886; Astronomy - 1085; Banking - 1005
England: Gunpowder - 841; Astronomy - 1030; Banking - 954
Russia: Gunpowder - 878.

Cost with Dyes as part of deal:
Rome: Gunpowder - 631; Astronomy - 827; Banking - 748
Germany: Gunpowder - 746; Astronomy - 945; Banking - 865
Greece (conjecture of dye value of 140L): Gunpowder - 701; Astronomy - 890; Banking - 814
Hopefully, Greece will have a higher value for our dyes.

Value of our World Map:
Rome - 34L (As part of a deal)
Greece - 47L (As part of a deal)
Germany - 28L (by itself, no other deal involved); 33L (As part of a deal)
Russia - 43L (As part of a deal)
The WM figures are for what we currently have for a map. Rome will sell their map for 6L, england for 3L; currently.

The DFM for Trade recommedations for the next 5 turns:

580 AD:
Renegotiate dyes with Germany for 6LPT & 11L
France - Buy Worker for 22 Lytons.

590 AD: This string of deals assumes that Russia HAS NOT aquired Banking and/or Astronomy.
Note on WM/TM deals - If a Civ has a low treasury, will not pay LPT & WM for our WM (to within a sufficient value of our WM); we just buy WM and all treasury, selling our TM only (exception: France - NO LPT DEALS).

Phase I: While doing these deals, check tech levels
Aztecs - Sell our WM/TM for their WM & As much as we can get.
NOTE-Check to see if they have aquired Gunpowder, if so ONLY buy WM.
Iroquois - Sell our WM/TM for their WM & As much as we can get.
NOTE-Check to see if they have aquired Gunpowder, if so DO NOT do WM trade yet, go to the next in line.
France - Sell our WM/TM for their WM & As much as we can get.
NOTE-Check to see if they have aquired Gunpowder, if so DO NOT do WM trade yet, go to the next in line.
England - Sell our WM/TM for their WM & As much as we can get.
Babylon - Sell our WM/TM for their WM & As much as we can get.
Persia - Sell our WM/TM for their WM & As much as we can get.

Phase II: at the discression of the FAM (option 1 is recommended)
Rome - either one of two trades:
1) Ivory; WM for Dyes; WM; 13LPT; 9L (or less)
2) Sell our WM/TM for their WM & As much as we can get.

Phase III: check to see how much their WM would be to buy outright. If it is for 1L, do not have as part of the deal because they don't have any new info compaired to our map. If more, add to the deal.
Greece - Banking; ??WM?? for Dyes; WM & hopefully less than 767L (this depends on Dye & WM value).

Phase IV: check to see how much their WM would be to buy outright. If it is for 1L, do not have as part of the deal because they don't have any new info compaired to our map. If more, add to the deal.
Russia - Gunpowder; ??WM?? for Banking; WM and whatever monies to make the deal, either way.

Last Phase:
Germany - Sell our WM/TM for their as much as we can get.

Special note to this string of trades: If France, Iroquois or the Aztecs have Gunpowder, need to explore Altering Phase IV. Buy WM from Aztecs if they are altered.
In 580 AD, France still needs Education & Iroquois need Music Theory.

600-610 AD: No special orders

620 AD: WM Explore Update before end of turnchat cycle.
Buy WM from Rome. Check England, Aztec & Greece for WM's that cost more than 1 Lyton and but it (if more). This gives us the most up to date WM for our information.

Reasoning behind Banking instead of Astronomy. It leads to Democracy w/Printing Press (which we are researching). It's cheaper than Astronomy by about 80 Lytons. It would give us the ability to build Banks (and Wall Street) as soon as the CP is ready to add it to the build queues. It would lead to Economics, which whould allow us to try to build Smiths Trading. We can trade it for Astronomy from one of the Civs that dosen't already have it.

Here is the current Information on the Wonder Race:

Rome is still leading, and the effects of them losing the Dyes for one turn might increase time to completion by one turn, but not really likely because of building in the capitol.

That's it for now, If I have any other information that needs to be addressed, I'll post a Followup.

Final Update from this term, 640AD
Through the skillful use of our luxuries, World Map, bustling economy and trades we have managed to aquire Gunpowder, Banking, and Astronomy. At present, the only technology we don't know is Chemistry ... possibly something beyond that.

We lead the world in size, population, and culture. We have a large military that will be updated with the knowledge that gunpowder has given us, thanks to the newly found resource of saltpeter that resides in two locations within our Republic.

The biggest challange now facing the Ministry is the search for other civilizations to interact with. Our map was once the most advanced map of the world, but it is now lacking. Many of our neighbors have more detailed maps, possibly showing previously unknown waterways to the west of the Greek isle. We plan to purchase this knowledge at the next chat.

Our current map, despite the recent surveys of the sea below Ubergorsk, has no real value.

Saltpeter will become a valued comodity. We will continue to explore trade options for this resource in coming turns after our extra suply is linked.

We are also drawing close to our 20 peace renegotiation phase. The Ministry will take special care not to renegotiate with nations that are possible military targets. At this time, the only nation that seems to qualify is France.
