Would it be good if we could have mercenarys who create some units to help our armys fight? Ideas anyone?

Hmmm, do you mean like "support free" units we got from barbarian hut or a diplomatic option to "borrow troops" for 20 turns, as any luxury or strategical resource?

It's not a bad idea, ask another country for the use of their soldiers.

You (x)gpt for 20 turns, at the end of 20 turns the contract is simply ended.

But theose mercenary units would need to be automatically removed from your territory, unless you had an RoP

There's been wars between England and France and 1/4 of the British army was German Mercenarys. Just, should you be expecting an offensive or defensive war you can simply hire some units for 2gpt for however long. And say you want simply, 10Defensive units, and 15Offensive and 50gpt for the next 20turns.

only problem w/ 20 turn merc would be that user will be reckless with them. thats not cool. perhaps permeanant merc hiring would be more appropriate for game balance. and having them be supported by ur civ so that it is kinda like payment per turn deal.

think about it if you use ur merc on suicide run during 19th turn of contract then it sux for owner.

and why even save them for 19th turn if u can kill em off in 1st turn and end the negotiation prematurely?

basically we have merc hiring already in game. Its called hurry production. Think about it instead of training u pay to rally mercs. Also signing military allaince is very much like hiring a merc. So wat difference would the permeanant merc be from hurry production? well to start making transaction between civ to get a unit would be cool feature for diplomacy. and that hiring from different civ can free your build queue.

unless you guys have good idea about making 20 turn merc working i cant agree on it being a good idea

EDIT: hiring unit from other civ could be advanategous in that you can get unit u cant create as well i guess (UU, advance and resource u dont have etc.) should you add a feature that randomly "culture flips" for military as well (mutiny hee hee) especially when ur attacking civ u hired from? or hired unist dont culture flip until nationalism is discovered? how about civ gets 100% defense atack bonus when fighting the hired unit of same civ (since they'll be reluctant to kill their brothers) i dunno im just trying to open up things here
