Site for a great city of Learning.
I just noticed this a few minutes ago, but "Ghengistown", aka "Mosquito City" aka "Insane City", aka "Gotham", aka "Whoseinchargeofsettlermovesanyway" only has two tiles out of twenty-one that are NOT river tiles.

This is an extreme rarity in Civ3 and in my games I always use these gems as cities of mega-learning. This is THE prime spot for Copernicus or Isaac Newton's University.

I feel we should concentrate on clearing the jungle, building roads and mines, and completing a library and university asap at this location.

NOTE:
Light Blue squares are river tiles it shares with no one.
Purple squares are river tiles it shares with another city's radius.
Orange squares are not river tiles.

Way to go for noticing that!
I agree with your assessment, it can be a great site for a wonder that doubles research output if we decide to build one.

It looks a little tight...still it's good considering the amount of jungle hindering us. The river tiles should help with extra food production.

Sorry for being unclear, I was unticipating the odd flood plain or two under the jungle matt...even this is unclear...oh well...Flood plains = extra shields, so less of a need for mining, so irigate...does this make more sense?

What the important point to make, is that we should get more trade producing squares.

Sounds like a good idea, GF...

Now, the only problem is that we have to get the City Planner to eventually build more workers (currently low on our priority list when we're at war and then need to build courthouses, libraries, etc. for our hopeful GA) and then we need the Public Works Minister to devote a significant number of them to this specific area of jungle.

That being said, this is very do-able.

I wonder if Ghengis possibly has any biases in wanting to promote Ghengistown

It wasn't Ghengistown when I started this thread.

It got renamed after about the fifth post in this thread.

Okay just finished a survey of the best cities to concentrate on learning/science development. We really are lucky to have such an abundance of river tiles.

1) Ghengistown - 18 tiles are river tiles (shares 2 with Timeline)

2) Macross City - 17 tiles are river tiles (shares 4 with Rheims)

3) Timeline - 16 tiles are river tiles (shares 2 with Ghengistown)

4) City on a Hill - 16 tiles are river tiles, many hill and mountain tiles

5) Rheims - 16 tiles are river tiles (shares 4 with Macross City)

6) Gaia - 11 tiles are river tiles, several dyes

7) Del Monte - 11 tiles are river tiles

Ghengistown and City on a hill seems to be the best ones... and maybe Timeline.

I would urge City On A Hill to be the candidate. while we already lost copernicus, we would need a good production city to be able to build the science wonders, and since City On A Hill has space for mines, so that we could irregat several grassland tiles for a big population of scientists, it does seem the best choice.

I would think Ghengistown and City on a Hill (formerly known as Ghengistown) should try to build specific wonders in the future.

City on the Hill - Isaac Newton
with it's production and science it should be a shoe in.

Ghengistown - Shakespeare's Theater
with 20 grassland tiles, the 8 unhappy citizen's being made content, it should be able to support several specialist scientists after Sanitation.

Oh, I see. Because I'm not a DIA member my opinion on science topics is irrelevant. I may just have to join the Hawk party out of spite.

I don't know about the others but I've seen your opinion shortly after you posted it and I liked it, but I didn't comment on it simply because I had nothing to say.
