City planners Options ??
I have read the Minister Of War's reaport and the report of our Foriegn Minister and it looks like we are leaning toward warfare. If this is so we need to keep in mind that we will need to support our army from the cities at home, and we are not yet prepared for that. While we do have many cities we are arround 3 pop for each which does not make for great production. Worse we have unhappy workers in cities of three and four.

Good news, we have some primo realestate and if we can get our population to rise we have some really great cities Also the temples that former president heydy began are nearly complete, most will build in one turn. and We have lots of caravans on the way, as well as a couple more tiremes.

So here are the options I see:
1. Raise population either by celebrateing or by maxing out food production. OR focus on production and get some defense units, diplos, and caravans

2. build units for defense in Capitol, then transfer them to the appropriate cities. OR begin building camaign to prepare for war.

3. Build diplos/vans where the production will not support much else (we also have to watch the income, not much good to build temple library and market place in a city with two gold ) OR Go ahead with the White goods (markets & library's)

edit\ I screwed up the poll and it only allows you one vote there should be three actual polls going on here. so please write in you vote as well.

1.
a. raise pop
b. raise prod

2.
a.Build units in cap
b. build lots of units everywhere

3.
a. build diplo's and vans in production poor areas
b. Buils improvements and units and let production catch up

I don't read exactly that : we are loving peace and development, but not at any cost. In front of aggressive civs, we may have to stay some turns at war, not to conquest the world, but strongly defending our cities.

Trivial.

We don't have the means for building numerous units. So we need some good defense ones and making trade and building improvments for happiness and science...

I am all for a strong defense, In fact that is one of the first issues I want to take on. I think we should have at least two phlanx in each city and an elephant to acompany those on the coastlines. However the first priority should be to get the population up so that we can have some workers to support that. It just appears to me that we are starting to talk about an invasion into Japanese or chinese teritory and I don't see that as feasable.

We are NOT declaring war, just plan on defending ourselves.

1. Key cities to production for now. Pop increase will be through celebrationn once we goto the 'Pub.

2. We don't need nearly as many units (3/city?? ) as soome posters have suggested. Just build them in Capitol as vets and distribute via our growing road system.

3. Temples everywhere first. Caravans where we already have them. Once in 'Pub, build Markets and Libraries.

1 B before a but both important as celebrating will be hard in rep as we have 19 city's.

2 Neither 2 Phalanx on the east coast and 1 in other city's should be enough. (we might need a couple more untill republic for kill citizens who try to start riots

3 Both, build markets and caravans before libraries.
Markets give a 50% increase in lux and more trade also keeps people happy in republic.

Then I will revise my plans as needed
I was aiming for three unts inthe eastern cities (eg two phlanx asnd a elephant. I think (after reading your opinions) that those shields would be better spent on market places and banks. Do you agree? We could also spend more time on the diplo's.
