...you have to start another thread called "You know you've played to long when..." to break the previously set record.

Regarding Coug's first posting above:
"...you can't belive why they don't transform Sahara into Plains."

In the 1940's Willy Ley proposed something similar, in a book about ten proposed engineering miracles. The technique involves cutting through a rock wall somewhere along the Congo, allowing it to flood much of the jungle in the middle of Africa, and turn the Sahara into usable land.

At the time, little was known about predicting ecological consequences. Ley saw the flooding of some of the worst, insect-infested land in the world as a great value. But even if, as he thought, relatively few people would have to be relocated, he expected that the political implications of this engineering feat were such that it would never be feasible.

You wonder why the Eiffel Tower hasn't helped the French's reputation...

You can't believe China was ever conquered...couldn't the Great Wall just force Khan's mongol horde to make peace?

Instead of going to the football game, you insist on going to the "collesium"

You believe Evolution is true, yet you build cathedrals anyways...

You are relieved to be traveling in Communist countries, citing that there's no corruption...

You wonder why Clinton doesn't just fortify troops in enemy territory to avoid Senate interference...

You are shocked that even with Leo's Workshop, Florence wasn't able to conquer the world.

You wonder why every city in Italy doesn`t have a cathedral, because of Michaelangelo`s Chapel.

You wonder why people whine about nuclear war; if they have enough engineers to clear up the pollution, what`s the problem?

How come people don`t generate zones of control? Oh, they do, but we`re allied with everyone.

You always take the train because you know it's faster thain air.

Wonder how stupid dictators really are when they don't change to democracy to produce more trade.

Wonder why armies keep building tanks and other useless stuff, when everybody knows that howitzers are both better and cheaper.

True story: my 4-year-old son asked me what I was doing at work. I carefully explained my current project, describing it in a way he could understand. His reply: "I thought you were playing Civilization!". Ouch.

...when you attack one of your closest friends when you're injured in order to "repair" yourself...

In fact, I never try to get my units repaired in allied cities, because it's not worth the turn you have to spend for

wow, my comment was larger than the actual contribution to the thread...

I actually did that with MoO2, but it was a boring job that had little real work at that point...

I was also busily corrupting our tech support department with loaned copies of MoO2, Worms:Armaggedon, Total Annhilation, etc.

When you carry a notepad and pen with you wherever you go. So you can jot down ideas for improving the game or writing scenarios.

Or if you've got a 2 gig hd and half of it is used on civ2.
